Beach Day ’92
Beach Day was a watchword last week on Oak Is
land - watch surfers, watch girls, watch the little
kids eat all the watermelon before you get your
chance - but the annual event, part of the com
munity Fourth of July celebration, was a good time
for all. Hundreds of participants and onlookers
turned out for tan and body judging, volleyball
competition, horseshoes, sandcastle building, tugs
of-war and - yes -- watermelon eating too. There
was plenty of sun, plenty of gifts from area mer
chants, plenty of fun for everybody.
