SHERIFF'S REPORT
The following crime reports were on file at the Brunswick County
Sheriffs Department Monday:
•A Bolivia man reported Friday that someone took the license tag off
his Ford pickup while it was parked at the Shallottc Food Lion.
•A Shallottc man reported Friday that while he and his wife were
sleeping they heard someone outside, got up and looked out the
window and saw a car speeding from the driveway. The victim said it
was the same vehicle that had been following him for three days. The
driver of the car had also been stopping in front of the victim’s house
and blowing the horn. The victim stated the driver used to be married to
his wife. Two tires on the victim’s 1987 Dodge were cut, according to
deputy Phil Bryant’s report.
•A Bolivia man reported Saturday that a cedar block was thrown
through the window of his 1989 Pontiac Firebird while the vehicle was
parked on Green Lewis Loop Road, causing an estimated S500 damage.
The victim said he parked the car there because it had a flat tire.
•A Southport man reported Friday that a couple renting a trailer lot
from him at Southgate Estates on Beach Road took several pieces ot
property with them when they were evicted. The couple had lived on
the lot since 1989, the victim stated. About $805 worth of property was
reported missing, including a set of wooden steps, a dinette set, a sofa,
two full-size beds with box springs, a washer and a dryer.
•A Shallotte man reported Saturday that someone broke the lock on
his office door and removed a .38-caliber pistol and a container full of
silver coins.
•A Leland woman reported Friday that someone entered her mobile
home and removed a remote control color TV worth an estimated $290.
•An Ash man reported Saturday that someone entered his home and
removed a TV and VCR worth a total of about $400.
•Highway 130 Auto Sales in Shallotte reported Saturday that some
one broke into a 1987 Subaru arid removed a radio and amplifier worth
an estimated $650.
•A Winnabow woman reported Saturday that she heard a noise in her
house and later discovered that a wall and cabinet were damaged.
Deputy M. S. Mason indicated in his report that possibly a .22-caliber
gun was shot into the residence while the woman and husband were in
bed asleep and their younger daughter was in the living room.

Take notice that a public hearing shall beheld on December 14,1992 at 7:00
p.m. in the Yaupon Beach Town Hall to hear public comment regarding the
imposition of a room occupancy tax for the Town of Yaupon Beach, said tax to
be used for tourism development. Pursuant to House Bill 1367, the Board of
Commissioners of die Town of Yaupon Beach may levy a room occupancy tax
of three percent (3%) of the gross receipts derived from the rental of accomo
dations within the town that arc subject to sales tax imposed by the Stale under
G.S. 105-164.4 (a)(3) and from tdie rental of private residences and cottages
within the town that are exempt from the sales tax imposed under G.S. 105-164.4
(a)(3) solely because they are rented for less than fifteen days. Penalties shall be
imposed if individuals do not comply with the lax reporting. A copy of the bill
is on file in the office of the Town Clerk for review.
