Phone books to be recycled
Atlantic Telephone Membership Corp. customers can leave used tele
phone directories at ten recycling drop sites.
Phase II of the telephone book project sponsored by the Brunswick
Coudy Recycling Program excludes customers of Southern Bell.
Dropsites for those in the Leland, Southport and Oak Island areas were
previously listed.
The front and back covers and inserts have to be removed and discarded
from the bodes. Collection will begin Tuesday, June 1, and continue
through Friday, July 2, from 9 am. to S p.m.
They can be left in special containers placed at town halls in Boiling
Spring Lakes, Holden Beach, Ocean Isle Beach, Sunset Beach, Calabash,
Shallotte, at the Brunswick County Government Center near Bolivia
Longwood Post Office, Ash Post Office and the Atlantic Telephone Mem
bership business office in Shallotte.
Businesses and industries with more than ten books can arrange for pick
up by contacting Mary McCarley, recycling coordinator, 253-4488.
County residents received 62.5 tons of telephone bodes this year.
"Let’s not put material in the landfill that can be readily recycled," said
Ms. McCarley.
