scripture from Psalm 32 and Luke 15:1-3 during the Sunday, March 22, worship ser

Southport Baptist
The Sunday, March 22, message at Southport Baptist Church is the second in the
Series on Truths of the Gospel.” The truth looked at this Sunday is “Human
Sinfulness,” with Romans 1:18-25 and Luke 4:1-12 are texts.
“Our sinfulness tends to cluster itself around three matters,” said Dr. Marvin Gold,
interim pastor. First, selfishness in personal matters; second, our misuse of our
power; third, our failure to take responsibility for our own lives. God’s grace enables'
us to live in His love despite our sinfulness.”
Sunday school for all age levels begins at 9:45 a.m., with morning worship_atl 1
a.m. Evening worship is held at 7 p.m. Nursery care is provided. Visitors are wel
come to attend.

ment,” Cottingham said.

The Rev. Billy Hutchinson, pastor of First Baptist Church of Oak Island, asked,
"Does a pat on the back make you feel good? How about when someone befriends
you? Paul teaches us in Romans 15:1-9 that it is important for us to encourage one
another. The scripture also shares with us that we should accept one another as we
are, that as strong Christians we should learn from the past and encourage into the
future.”
“Endure with Encouragement!” is the sermon title. Sunday school begins at 9:45
a.m. and the worship service at 11 a m. “Walk through the Bible” study continues
Sunday at 7 p.m. as the book of Psalm is shared.
Oak Island Presbyterian
"The Unmistakable Mandate” is the sermon topic Sunday, March 22, at Oak
Island Presbyterian Church. Pastor Michael Ward said, “As Christians we are each
called to serve God in various ways, yet we are all called to serve Him in one way.
We all have an “unmistakable mandate” we all must follow — the mandate of love
for all, even the most unlovely.” Scripture will be used from John 15:9-17.
Sunday school begins at 9:15 a.m., with worship services at 8:15 and 10:15 a.m.

Saint Peter Lutheran
At Saint Peter Lutheran Church's ,8:30 and 11 a.m. worship services Sunday,
March 22, pastor Ken Langsdorf will preach on the parable of the Prodigal Son from
Luke 15:11-32.
“It is always good to come home: After a day of work, after being away at college
or after a long trip,” Langsdorf noted, “At times we may wander away from home in
youthful rebellion or curiosity, like the younger brother in the parable. We may
become estranged from family members, like the older brother, and thus not be ‘at
home’ even though we share the same house. In all these situations we desire the true
home of security, love and acceptance. This comes to us in the unexpected abundance
of God's grace. Through repentance and faith in Jesus as our Savior, we can return to
God and live at peace with Him qp a beloved child.”
Southport Presbyterian
The parable of the Prodigal Son from Luke 15 is the subject of the Rev. Jonathan
Kelley’s sermon at Southport Presbyterian Church this Sunday, March 22. The ser
mon title is "Going into the Party.”
‘The parable is a cherished description of God’s love in the face of human sin
depicted in the father and his two sons," Kelley commented. “When the younger son
finally returned home having wasted his inheritance, the indulgent father threw a
party to welcome him. But the older son said he wouldn’t go into the party. He
claimed it wasn’t fair. What about our lives? Are we able to go into the party?”
Sunday worship begins at 11 a.m. and child care is provided during the service.
The church hosts Sunday school for all ages at 10 a.m. A fellowship time follows the
worship service. The church is located at the corner of East Moore Street and Stuart
Avenue,
