Beach recreation
activities planned
Art programs, deep-sea fishing
excursions, day camps and sporting
events are among recreational activ
ities planned this spring by the
Long Beach Parks and Recreation
Department.
"Spring Break" will be celebrated
April 13-17 with a trip to Indigo
Farms in western Brunswick
County, a cookout, golfing and fish
ing events, environmental camps
and sports competitions.
Throughout the week, the game
room at the Long Beach Recreation
Center will be open and snacks will
be available daily from 1 to 4 p.m.
Earth Week will be observed April
20-25 with a canoe trip, bike trail
ride, dune restoration project and an
Adopt-a-Park program.
Seniors can test their skills at . *
horseshoes, croquet, golf, shuffle
board, basketball, softball throw and
spincasting in the Brunswick
County games May 11-15. -Clinics
and training sessions will be held in
advance throughout the county.
Summer day camps will be held
weekly from June 15 through July
31. Themes include the environ
ment, arts and crafts, sports and
mystery stories. •
A youth employment program
will be offered this summer by the
parks and recreation department for
Long Beach residents ages 14
through 17. Information packets and
applications are available at the
recreation center.
Swimming, track events and bas
ketball shooting contests will high
light the Junior Goodwill Games
scheduled June 12. The competitions

Swimming, fishing, group games,
arts and crafts, nature studies and
field trips are among activities fea
tured in the Brunswick County
Recreation Day Camp Program for
youngsters ages six through 13.
The fee is $60 per week or $15 per
day. Campers will meet at the
Brunswick County Government
Center at 9 a.m. and return by 5
p.m. Camps will be held the follow
ing weeks: June 22-26 (six- to nine
year-olds), June 29-July 3 (ten- to 13
year-olds), July 13-17 (six- to nine
year-olds), and July 20-24 (ten- to
13-year-olds).
