Robert Mack Miller, 60, of Southport
Robert Mack Miller, 60, of Long Beach Road, Southport, died Wednesday, April
15, 1998, at his residence. Graveside services were conducted at 2 p.m. Friday at
Northwood Cemetery with the Rev. Pete Swain officiating.
Miller was bom September 20, 1937, in Wooton, KY, son of the late Charles
Anderson and Rose Stidham Miller, arid moved here from Lynch, KY, in 1961. A U.
S. Air Force veteran, he was a shrimper and a charter member of Oak Island Moose
Lodge.
Survivors include a brother, Bill Miller of Bolivia, and a sister, Nola Fields of
Southport.

Martin Alan Jones, 47, of Fairfax, VA
Martin Alan Jones, 47, of Fairfax, VA, died Friday, April 17, 1998, at his residence.
Private graveside services will be conducted at a later date at Guilford Memorial
Park in Greensboro.
Jones was bom November 23, 1950, in Nuremburg, Germany, a son of Jack
Ownbey and Katie Ann Staudinger Jones. He lived most of his life in Greensboro
before moving to Fairfax County, VA. in 1968. He was a member of St. Paul's
Presbyterian Church in Greensboro and was employed with Suburban Credit
Company of Alexandria, VA,
Survivors include his parents of Long Beach and a brother, Clifford B. Jones of
Richmond, VA.
Memorial contributions may be made to the organization of the donor's choice.

Eufaula Davis Cook, 101, of Southport
Mrs. Eufaula Davis Cook, 101, of Southport died Friday, April 17, 1998, at Ocean
Trail Convalescent Center. Graveside services were conducted at Tuesday in
Elmwood Cemetery, Charlotte, with the Rev. Lee Stoffell officiating.
Mrs. Davis was bom June 18, 1896, in Bristol, TN, a daughter of the late Jeff and
Ella Ann Easley Davis. She was a retired private duty nurse and was a member of
First Baptist Church of Boiling Spring Lakes.
She was preceeded in death by her husband, Ernest G. Cook, and two sons,
Thomas M. Cook and Ralph H. Cook. Survivors include a son, Henry Davis Cook of
Winston-Salem; eight grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and one great-great
grandchild.

Mildred Cox Snider, 67, of High Point
Mrs. Mildred Cox Snider, 67, of High Point died Friday, April 17, 1998, at High
Point Regional Hospital.
Mrs. Snider was bom October 6, 1930, in Guilford County, a daughter of George
W. and Julia Griffin Cox. She was a resident of Guilford County all her life and was
graduated from Allen Jay High School. She retired from Amos Hosiery Mill and later
received her nursing assistant’s certificate. She worked at the Presbyterian Home and
was a member of Bethel Baptist Church. On December 24,1948, she married Donald
Ray Snider, who died in 1986.
Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Beverly Snider McCarter of Long Beach; one
son, Donald R. Snider Jr. of the home; two brothers, Dillard W. Cox and Glenn D.
Cox of High Point; four grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. She was pre
ceded in death by a son, Randall Snider.
The funeral was held Sunday at Bethel Baptist Church with the Rev. Roy Green
and the Rev. Bobby Loving officiating. Burial followed in Floral Garden Park
Cemetery.

Mary Upchurch Ruark, 80, of Southport
Mrs. Mary^ Upchurch Ruark. 80, of Southport died Sunday, April 19, 1998, at
Dosher Memorial Hospital. Graveside services were conducted at 11 a.m today
(Wednesday) in Northwood Cemetery with the Rev. Jeffrey Johnson officiating.
Mrs. Ruark was born June 30, 1917, in Petersburg, VA, a daughter of the late Ira
and Mae Busbee Upchurch, and moved here from Wilmington in 1954. She was a
member of Southport Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Asa Dosher Ruark Jr. in 1995 and is
survived by a son, Asa Dosher Ruark III of Granby, MO; a daughter, Lynn Ruark
Sellers of Southport; four step-grandchildren and five step-great-grandchildren.

Southport, NC 28461.

Mrs. Elizabeth Jaggers, 94, of Long Beach
Mrs. Elizabeth Herwig Jaggers, 94, of Long Beach died Monday, April 20, 1998,
at Dosher Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services were conducted Tuesday at St. Philip’s Episcopal Church, where
she attended, with the Rev. Robert Beasley officiating. A second funeral will be held
at 10 a.m. Saturday at Saul Funeral Home Greenwood Avenue Chapel, Hamilton, NJ,
with the Rev. Anna Powell officiating. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery in
Hamilton.
Mrs. Jaggers was bom November 26, 1903, in Philadelphia, PA, a daughter of the
late Harry Kiel and Florence Kerschner Johnson, and moved here from Allentown,
NJ, in 1992. She lived most of her life in Trentop, NJ, and was a member of Christ
Episcopal Church in Bordentown, NJ.
She was the widow of Charles R. Jaggers Sr. and is survived by a son, Charles R. ■
Jaggers Jr. of Muncie, IN; a daughter, Ruth M. Carver of Long Beach; three sisters,
Dorothy Burbank of Flemington, NJ, Mary Laedlein of Hamilton, NJ, and Gertrude
Ruopp of Creedmoor; five grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
