Kivett, who at one time was a citizen of Ashboro, was 1 in town Tuesday renewing old acquantances. Mr. and Mrs. Montgomery Harris and little child, of Bel fast. Davidson county, are visit ing relatives in Ashboro. Thomas Macon, a prominent farmer, living near Kemps Mills, this county, had the misfortune to lose his large barn, one horse, one mule, one milk cow, 100 bush- els of corn and a large lot of ; rough feed, by fire last Tuesday j night. We have been unable to ' learn any particulars about how the fire originated but learn that ! Mr. Macon had no insurance. Mr. Macon is a highly respected citizen and his many friends will regret to learn of his serious loss. The change in schedule on the Southern railway and the through train from Aberdeen to High Point went into effect last Sun day. The mails from the north will arrive at 8:55 a. m. and 4:.0 p. m. Going north they leave Ashboro at 10:50 a. m. and. 8:05 p. m. The mail from the south will arrive at 8:05 p. m. and leave at 8:55 a. m. Report says he married Xmas, Sunday after Xmas, and last week some time. If he keeps ' on he will have as many wives as Brigham Young. Maybe some old maid has an axe to grind. Wednesday evening at 8:30 in the Friends church at Archdale there was celebrated a very pretty wedding when Miss Lena Freeman became the bride of Mr. Horace S. Ragan. The church was artistically decorated for the occasion with holly, ferns and potted plants, and these with the brilliant lights presented a beautiful scene. before the entrance of the bridat party Mrs. Charles, Ragan of High Point, rendered sweet music and Miss Hazel Harmon sang sweetly "Answer." To the strains of Mendelsohns wedding march the bridal party filed in. The four ushers, Messrs. R. R. Ragan, O. E. Wilson, H. A. Tomlinson and Charles Ragan, of this city came in first, followed by Miss Annie Ragan, sister of the groom with Mr. Will Pickard, of Randleman. Following these came the bride with her sister, Itfrs. H. A. Tomlinson the dame of honor, and the groom with his brother, Mr. E. L. Ragan, best man. At the chancel Rev. D. C. Cox spoke the vows which pronounced the couple husband and wife. The bridesmaid and maid of honor wore a dress of net over pink taffeta and carried pink carnations. The bride was costumed in a princess dress of ! white satin trimmed with duchess lace. She carried a bouquet of roses. Immediately after the cere mony the party repaired to the home of the bride's parents where a reception was tendered. The bride is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. L. Freeman and is a charming young women of high character and culture. The groom is the son of the late Amos Ragan and is one of the most successful business men of the country. As an evidence of the popu- larity cf the bride and groom many handsome and costly pres ents were received. Mr. and Mrs. Ragan will re side in Archdale. High Point Times.
