Nathan Thomas left Tuesday for Chatham co. to visit his brother and son. C. H. York of Greensboro re turned home Saturday. Mrs. Bertha Luther of Proxim itv is visiting her mother, Mrs. G. H. McMath. Miss Florna Cox returned home from Greensboro Saturday where she has been visiting her sister. Dr. S. W. Caddell, one of the stockholders of the Sanford cot ton mills made a flying trip to at tend the stockholders annual meeting at Sanford. Rolf Graves, of Oregon, who is in the gold mining business in that state came in the 16th and went to visit his brother, Thomas Graves, near Shiloh church. Prof. W. P. White has moved his family here and will open the school here Sept. 2d. We wel come Mr. White and think the committee has made a wise choice and if we do our part we will have a good school. J. M. Mrs. Caroline Whitehead, who has been living in Greensboro for a number of years is spend ing some time with her neice, Mrs. Willis Luther. William I. Lane aged 74 years died at the residence of his son Capt. W. D. Lane on August 18th. He had been sick all the past year and the end came not unexpected. He leaves two sons Capt. W. D. Lane of the South ern Ry. and T. I. Lane of Greens boro and Mrs. J. M. Whitehead of Ramseur. He was well known throughout this section of the State and his friends will learn of his death with deep regret.
