Miss Jessie Boroughs is visiting relatives at Why Not. U. L. Spence, of Carthage, spent Sunday here with his brother, J. A. Spence. J T. Penn and family have re turned to Asheboro lrom Greensboro. They are living in South Asheboro. H. T. Cavness has begun work on his new residence on Sunset Ave nue. Roal died at Spencer Tuesday from injuries received in a head on collision. J. R. Lambert, of the Cole's Store sectiou, has opened a store at the Bradv place, Ore Hill R. F. D. No. 1. Miss Blanche Kerans, of Dm ham, is expected to arrive this week to visit her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. E. 15. Kearns. Capt A. M. Rankin, and fan ily, of High Point, are visiting Af r. Rankin's father at Heidsville. His father is 90 years of age. The Wake Fore3t Glee Club has started its annual tour of the state. T. I). CollinP, of Raudlemun, is u .member of the club. A force of hands will begin to! tear away the old war bouse on De pot Street, to give place to the brick store to be erected by the Lewis Winslow Hardware Cs. Miss Minnie Reynolds, of Troy, has accepted a position as 'stenographer in the office of Jno T. Brittain. Miss Reynolds, who is a graduate of Kings Business College at Raleigh, will arrive this morning. In addition to the ministers and ladies who are in our Jamestown contest we have decided to send one R. F. D. carrier whose route is wholly or in part in Randolph county. The Courier's Grand Prize in the contest is en exhibition at the store of Wood & Moring in Asheboro. Go and see it and then go to work for it. If you have not time to see it go to work for it anyway. "H, V. Miller concluded his seiies of Bibk Study meetings at the Presbyterian Church Sunday. The meeting was well attended and in teresting from the beginning. Mr. .Miller left Monday for New York. 'The Randolph Creamery plant which. will be sold at public auction May Oth, was installediat a cost of about $7,000. The liabslities of the concern are about $2,600. The receiver was appointed on a petition of W. T. Bryant, a creditor. Clip three coupons for your favorite lady, minister or R. F. D. carrier in the piano and Jamestown contest. Three coupons will be published each wek. They are not good if voted after the date named in the coupon. The street improvements are being pushed as rapidly as the weather will permit. The property owners on the east side of Fayetteville street where the permanent side walks are being placed will put a cement block wall along the front cf their lots. The closing exeicises of Marl boro school will be on Tuesday, April 30th. An interesting pro giam has been arranged. Rev. O. L. Powers, of High Point will deliv er the literary address. Music by local band. The doling, exercises of the Col ored Graded School will be in court house April 29-30. and May 1st. Exercises of Primary and Interme diate Grades will be Monday and Tfle8day night, April 29 and 30. Dr. J. P. Morris, of Bennett Col lege, Greensboro, N. C, is conducting a successful revival at St. Paul Church, a large number have been converted and many have joined the church. Bond election has been called for May iGth to provide funds to continue the work of street improve ment. The tirst isssue has been used and has added much to tne town . The "Central North Carolina" edited by Col. Boone, will make its appearance about May 1st. The machinery has all armed and is now being placed ready for opera tion. Col. Bone will mov his family here from Shepherdstown, W. a. and will occupy the hand some new residence on main street. H. O. Barker is having his residei ce on main street painted. Mr. John Ward is having a large brick buildiug put up Ou the Post office corner. The 6ture room will be occupied by Arch and Troy Millikan who will open a first class gents furnishing establisnnient. The other room will be occupied by thf Postoflice. The office at this., place has recently gone into the Presiden tial list. W. H. Pick: r 1 has bought that val uable piece'of prop' rty where the postoftice now stands and will erect a handsome two story brick building. The first floor will be used by Mr. Ptckard us an office. The offices on the second floor will be rented. On account of the increasing business of the Bank of Randleman they are considering securing larger and more commodious quarters. Jnn. L. Harris and Thos E. Mar shall went to Greensboro la.st Satur day to witness the Virginia Carolina ball game. A Building and Loan Association is being agitated here now and will be started up in a few weeks. The Graded School closed April 15th after a successful term. W. H. Pickard went to High Point and Greensboro Tuesday. Every manufacturing plant in this town is running on full time and enjoying an unusual amount of prosperity. The Bell Telephone Co., has two representatives here who have been at work trying to secure a franchise for their company.
