Redding, Eeq., of Caraway, was in Asheboro Tuesday. Eb. Winslow went up to Greens boro Tuesday, returning Wednesday. Amos Winningbam, who has been ill of fever, is rapidly convalescing. Mrs. Thad. S. Ferree visited friends at Star Friday and Saturday. Atlas Lewis, of West End, was a business visitor in Asheboro the first of the week. Rev. T M. Johnson is at Liberty assisting in a protracted meeting at that place this week. Dr. Lockhart, who has been visit ing relatives at Durham, returned Monuay night. 0. 8. Morris, of Salisbury, visit e ' his parents, Mr. aud Mis. P. II. Morris, over Sunday. Ziuiri Cracford, an aged citizen of Asheboro, who has been quit -ill for the past three weeks, does n't improve. Mrs. Dr. Hiatt, who has been on an extended visit to relat vea and friends at Baltimore, returned home Idonday night. Messrs. W. D. Stedman, E. C. Yow, Tom Hoover and Dr. Lock hart, went up to the show at Greens boro Monuay. Lawney Woodle has sold his home place aud moved into a part of the house occupied by Mrs. Elniira tsrooKsnire. Misses Lula and Nellie Kennedy, of Thoma8ville, ltoute 4, aie in Asheboro visiting their brother, Capt. Kenneuy, on sunset avenue. W. C. McPheeters, Jr., of Raleigh, are in Asheboro, visiting the home of Mrs. Hal M. Worth. J. T. Turner, the chicken man, is enlargiug and remodeling his resi dence in the southwest part of Ashe boro. When completed it will be among the handsomest homes in Asheboro. Boyd Auman, who at one time conducted the Auman House at this place, but who has recently been at uoldsboro, was in Asheboro Sui.dav on his way to Bisbee, Arizona, wnere ne expects to locate permanently. Asheboro Merchants will pay the nignest prices for all kinds of coun try produce, and when yon have corn, wheat, cotton, oats, barley or what not to sell, it will pay you to consult the Asheboro market before jron go elst where. Elder L. H. Hardy,.of the Reids ville Primitive Baptist church, will preach in Asheboro, at the old court house, on Saturday night, October 30th, at 7:30 p. m.,' and on Sunday, the 31st, at 10:30 a, m. and 2:30 p. m. Mrs. I. W. Pbilllips received a telegram Friday froji her sister, Mrs. J. II. McNeill, of Sanford, conveying the information that their four months-old daughter had -died, the day previous. The child was a twin, the other being a boy. Albert Heitman, a son of Mrs. Heitman, of Trinity, who now lives at Durham, recently had an opera tion for appendicitis at that place, and though at one time he was thought to be dangerously ill, he is now much better and is rapidly im proving. Joe W. Grier, ot the State Bureau of Animal Industry, which is nuk ing efforts to eradicate the Texas fever among the cattle of this sec tion, has left Asheboro, where he has been located during tha summer and returned to his home at Charlotte, where he will remain until next apring, when be will return and complete his work and lift the quar antine which has extended over this ectioa for some time. i Dr. J. Will Sueen and Millie Brown expect to leave next Monday for points south with a drove of horses and mules. The law building, west of. the courthouse, is rapidly assuming shape and will soon be ready for the roof. The contractors are rapidly plac ing the ceiling of the new court, house, and when completed will be a tine piece of work. Mrs. fShube W. Langhlin, of Broadway, will arrive today on a visit to her Bister, Mrs. Beth Laugh lin, on Sunset avenue. The Sydnor Pump Company are placing the machinery for drilling an artesian well for the Acme Ho siery Company. Prof. J. F.
