Chief of Police W. P. Page, of
Aberdeen, was shot to death by a
one-armed negro, believed to be Hen
ry Howard, of Danville, Virginia,
who was wanted in uoldgton and
Raeford for burglary. Chief Pasre
arrested the negro and had him in his
car where the shooting took place,
Mr. M. B. Genes, who accompanied
the policemen, took his pistol, shot
three times and killed the negro. He
was fully exonerated by a coroners
ury.

Greensboro Man Buys Seat on Stock
Exchange
J. Claude Hedgepeth, of Hedge-
peth and Company, Greensboro, is
reported to have bought a seat on
the New York Stock Exchange, be
ing the only North Carolinian who
ever purchased a seat. The price paid
is saM to have been $82,000. Mr.
Hedgepeth is still s young man.
