C THE AMEJi ICAN PRESS ASXUA . ... Mr. Denby claims that it is far more healthy; to walk than to aide Guess the smell of oil does have a rather sickening effect on some peo ple. - ' The Editor of The Montgomerian 'does not mince words concerning his political affiliations. He assures the public that he is a Democrat, and that his paper is now, and will always be, Democratic. The general opinion is that the Teapot Dome has been boiling about leng enough to have cooked the en ire Republican Administration. They are "done" but it seems they prefer being "hard boiled." When Mr. Mellon was pulling off that Kttle "juggling stunt" with the bonus figures he accidentally dropped about four million soldiers votes for bis party. It's strange his party would let him attempt such a delicate task without a little more coaching. The fact that Byfield accepted the check from Candler after charging Candler with assaulting his wife, is positive proof that money is now nsed to settle such matters instead of the sword our gallant forefathers would have used in a matter of this kind. Before making his final decision upon a successor to Edwin Denby as secretary of the navy, President Coolidge has been going over a list of names furnished by newspaper correspondents, who were invited to suggest men who would fill the re quirements he has laid down. If the soldiers can vote as well as they can shoot, President Coolidge will be able to attend to his agricul tural duties back on his farm, and will have time to seriously, wonder how the farmers have managed to exist when wheat was selling for $155 per. A disabled soldier was recently given three years in the Pen for stealing a second hand overcoat Summons Col. Forbes. Isn't he the man who sold several thousand over coats which had been bought for dis abled veterans? If President Coolidge has. as much trouble getting a new secretary of the navy as he has had getting rid of his Attorney General, he might as well wait and let the next Democratic President do the choosing. Mr. Roosevelt, even though he is "slightly oiled" will be able to hold down the job until March, and then the present administration can let the Democrats do the picking. The Montgomerian has recently moved its office and mechanical de partment in the handsome new three story building just South of the Bland Hotel on the Main street of Troy. A new linotype machine has been in stalled, and the press has been un dergoing a complete overhauling and now is in excellent condition. " Iff. 'Hnneyeutt is a man who believe in not only keeping up with the times feat also in keeping ahead.
