Staies Depart- Russell Craver, sixteen year old eon of Mr. and Mrs. M. L. Craver, of Welcome, Davidson county, was pain fully injured last week when a Ford automobile driven by a Salva tion Army man ran into him. The boy, it is said, was riding his bicycle in the middle of the highway which runs through Welcome, and upon meeting the Ford turned from the center of the road to the right, but the driver of the Ford for some un known reason turned to the left. The ar turned over and landed on young Craver's chest. Medical attention was obtained as soon as possible after the accident and his recovery is expected. Farmers of Lincoln county are now marketing those spring chickens for vhich they prepared during mid winter. Two hundred and fifty re cently went on the market weighing from one and one-half to two pounds and brought 60 cents per pound) About 1800 more will be ready in from one to four weeks, reports county agent J. G. Morrison. NOTICE OF SPECIAL SCHOOL TAX ELECTION, LIBERTY SCHOOL DISTRICT Notice is hereby given, that a special election has been called and will be held in Liberty School District, Randolph County, North Carolina, on Tuesday the 15th day of April. 1924, to determine the will of the qualified -voters of said district upon the ques tion of increasing the special tax for schools heretofore voted in said dis trict, to a maximum levy of fifty cents (50c) on the one hundred dollar valuation of all property, real and personal, to supplement the funds for the six months public school term for that district, under and in accordance with Chapter 186 of the Public Laws, 1923, of North Carolina. The Bank of Liberty Building shall be the polling place for said election, and H. C. Causey has been appointed registrar, and P. V. McPherson and J. M. Reece have been appointed judges for said election. A new registration of the qualified voters of said district will be had for said election. The registration books will be open for the registration of the voters from the 13th day of March to the 6th day of April, 1924, inclusive, Sundays excepted, and said registration books will be held open on all Saturdays during the registra tion as above stated, at the polling place for said election as above stated. At said election those who are in- favor of the levying and col lection of said increased tax shall vote a ballot on which shall be writ ten or printed the words "For in reased local tax", and those who op pose shall vote a ballot on which shall be written or printed the words ""Acainst increased local tax". Said election shall be held under and in accordance with the provisions of Chapter 136 of the Public Laws of 1923. of North Carolina.
