wiches and tea were served by Mrs.
J. T. Lewallen, Mrs. A. R. Birkhead,
Mrs. Sam - Story and Misses Mittie
Lovett and Nancy Browning. The
party was unusual in its beauty and
effectiveness and the many guests in
their farewells to Mrs. W. K Coffin,.
who stood at the north entrance by
which they departed, spoke of the
beautiful setting and of the popular
ity and attractiveness of the honorees.

dist Protestant church, with Rev. J.
A. Burgess, tha pastor, in charge, as
sisted by Rev. C. E. Hodgin, Rev. T.
H. Johnson and Rev. J. F. Milloway.

dist church, - Tabernacle church and
Grace Methodist Protestant church,

Ctmtracts for the hearing system
for the new Worthville school build
ing was let to Howerton and Chand
ler of Greensboro. Contracts for tha
hew school buildings at Farmer and
Worthville,- which had been let pre
viously, were, confirmed.
The county superintendent was au
thorized to niake necessary temporary
repairs on the Gray's Chapel school
building in order to make the building
comfortable for the next term of
school this-fall. Repairs were' also
authorized for White's Chapel school
in Columbia township.
An appropriation of $50 was made
for the support of the 'summer school
at A & T.- -College, Greensboro, ' for
the. benefit .of. the colored teachers
from this, county, in attendance. ;;

AGED WOMAN DEAD
Mrs. T. E. Black died at the home
of her son-in-law. T). L. Smith. Ash.
boro Route 1, Tuesday at tha age of
seventy-seven years. Mrs. Black has
been a remarkably strong woman, bat
wu iincien witn the umnnitiea of
old age about six months ago. Her
husband died a number Of yeard ago
and aha has no living child ran, but la
survived by the following grand-children:
