Rube Eldridge Won't Quit It is said that several days ago Jlube Eldridge, veteran left hand pitcher of. the High' Point team of the Piedmont league, tried to collect a debt some of the High Point fans owed him and failing to get the mon ey ' became a little exasperated and was almost ready to ciit baseball and return to his farm near Spero. El dridge is frequently referred to as the ''Duke of Spero". Rube says in an interview with the sports editor of til High Point Herald that he has never had any idea of quitting the High Point team. For four years Eldridge has been' on the High Point team and for a season or so back he was the mainstay of the team's pitch ing staff.' Lately he has been slipping but he wants the world to know that he is still in the game and giving his best.
