It i.- not good ethics for an at torney to induce persons to start law.-uits, the speaker -said, adding that fully two-thirds of the prospec tive ,-uits meet the disapproval of attorneys consulted. The duty of the lawyer to investigate con.-ci-otitiously the merits of each case and advise the clients accoriiinuly was mentioned. Kiwanian McKae advised his hearer- to beware of the lawyer who assures his clients of the outcome of suits pending, the result of which depends largely up on the point of view of a feu strong minded men on the juries. The soliciting of business is banned by legal ethics, the speaker said, adding that lawyers are per mitted to insert cards in newspapers and have personal cards made. He remarked upon the fact that is is indictable to stir up litigation. Judge B. F. Long agrees with the grand jury's recommendation for a new court house and county home for Ya ikin county. The present court house is small and is inadequate to act inmodate the crowds that always attend Yadkin court. .v - -i tt n mm) ! limit within the city limits ef his town, while the automobile club sec retary eays that the law is in viola tion nf the state law rerulatins- the speed limit inside corporate limits at 20 miles per hour. j Meeting of Farssers' I'nion f 1 Helen Retain TtdtT The Mt. All locals are re- uuested to send delegate. t J. C. COX, Sec re tar)'. Deaths from grade crossing acci dents for the year 1923 were 22, or ju-t half the number killed in like accidents during 1922. There were 33 fewer accidents and 32 few er injuries in such accidents. Molly Wagoner and Glenn Jarvis were sentenced to a term of 25 years in the state penitentiary each in superior court in Yadkinville Thurs day for the drowning of an infant daughter of Miss Wagoner's. They had been living together as man and ife for some time. K. E. Clark, 55-year-old typewriter repair man of Elizabeth City, was sentenced in court Friday to a total of 165 years in the penitentiary for attempted criminal assault on two twelve year old girls. The Greensboro News says that the State Highway Commission would exercise discretion and wisdom in ! contracting the remaining eight mile stretch between Greensboro and Ran dleman and let this part of the road be paved while the work on the other part is going on. The direct route from Greensboro to Randleman will , be out of commission during the com ing winter and traffic from Asheboro to Greensboro will be greatly hind-: ered. Probably the best route, al though the longest will be via High Point. ; MAN HAS MIRACULOUS ESCAPE The Salvation Army is to establish a home for indigent mothers and chil dren near Hendersonville in the near future at an approximate cost of about $100,000. I. Reavig was buried in the cemetery at Yadkinville six years ago in a casket enclosetl in a metal vault. Recently the body was taken up preparatory to placing it in another location by the sitle of his father and it was found that there were several holes in the bottom of the metal vault which let water in to the casket. The metal vault was supposed to last 50 years or more. These vaults come high costing from $400 up, yet is seems that for burial purposes they are not as good or are very little better than the old cedar caskets which could be had for from $20 to $25. It is stated that a proposition will be made for the removal of the Thomasville Main Street Methodist church from its present location on Main street to a site on Randolph street in order to get the church away from the noise of the railroad. 1 "I was told by our family physician j that I could not live without an oper ' ation, as my liver and gall sack were in such a condition.
