The Banks and not the People have it Editor Citizen: In your issue of September 25th, you published in wo gepcrate artie'e dated at Ra'- eigh, that according to the sworn reports of the 92 banks doing busi ness in t.he St-ite of North Carolina all of these banks but together held on July 14, 189G, only 6900 in gold I have n.jt at hand the statistics for the State in this matter, but I have this morning called on each of the local bantis, and I find that the banks in Asevilie alone held on that date $23,196 in gold.
