The doll is a beauty, «nd the owner happy over such a pretty object on which to lavish her affections. C, Henderson left Tues day morning for Chattanooga,Tenn. ■to attend the meeting of the South ern Educational Association. His plan on leaving was to be at the aissociation Wednesday and Thurs day, leave on Thursday night and arrive at Asheville Friday morning in time for the district meeting of County Superintendents and High School principals. The Rosman High School has «infortunately lost the services of i^rof. R. T. Teague, who has accep ted a position in a high school at Bakersville. Prof. Teague made a xttost favorable impression on us as a man and teacher during his stay Rosman, and his place will be liaxd to fill. Verdery has moved into his new home on Main Street. William Justus and wife have been on a visit to friends in this place. Born December 16th to Mr. and Mrs. H. W. Barton, at Selica, a daughter. Rev. J. K. Henderson will preach next Sunday morning at the Bap tist church. Vaughn Towsend,of Birmingham Ala., is visiting at the home of Branch Paxton. Mrs. Lawrence Smith, of Canton, is visiting her sister, Mrs. Lee Dal ton, in North Brevard. Robert Breese, of Atlanta, has been spending the holidays among friends and relatives. Jake Jarrett, our efficient night policeman, spent Tuesday and Wed nesday nights at Rosman. Mrs. Zeb Kilpatrick, of Hender sonville, is visiting at the home of her father, Sidney Fortune. Mrs. E. M. Redden, of Hender sonville is spending the holidays with her mother, Mrs. Can'^rell. I Vernon Gallamore, who^is in bus iness in Spartanburg, S. C., is on a visit to his home in North Brevard. Thos. S. Wood expects to leave next Sunday for Raleigh in his ca pacity of member of the legislature. James Smith and wife, of Ashe ville, were in Brevard during Christmas at the home of Louis Summey. Kendrick Witmer spent a few days at home during the Christmas holidays, making the trip from Co lumbus, Ga. The newly elected members of the legislature are gathering to gether preparatory to the next ses sion’s work. Cos Paxton will make a visit to Raleigh the first of next week to be present at the meeting of the Grand Lodge of Masons. Mr. and Mrs. H. V. Smedburg left this week for a visit of a few months to Oxford, Miss., and other places in the South. Courtney Wilson and Dr. Cheat ham of Abbeville, S. C., were vis itors to Brevard this week, travel ing across the mountains in an au tomobile. Jeff Glazener has accepted a po sition on the road as bookseller,and his place in Glazener s’ store has been filled by Ira Hamilton,a young man from Hendersonville. “No I’m not going to have a tur key dinner. There’s more in the name of turkey than anything else. I’d rathes have a good fat hen any time.” Once there was a fox. Many of the students came home to spend Christmas: Miss Mary Witmer, from Columbia, S. C.; Misses Kathleen Erwin, Fannie Hunt and Gertrude Zachary, from the Normal at Greensboro; Miss Mary Jane King, from Fruitland; Virgil Osborne and Felix Brunot, Davidson; Tom Summey, Will and Eugene Allison, from Trinity; and Clay McLean from the University at Chapel Hill. Wbitmire & Kilpatrick have moved their undertaking esta^ish- ment into the store room, part of which is ocaeupied by P. R. Ayres’ Jewelry store, Preaching at the Metl^odist church at 11:00 a. m. There were songs by the choir and children, and recitations on Christ mas subjects, with distribution of Christmas gifts and cheer.
