Everybody was satisfied with the nominations and went home with a good hops of electing it on Novem ber 3rd. ELECTORAL FUSION. Yesterday's State papers announce that the democratic and populist state executive committees have effected ar rangements for fusion' on the State electoral ticket. The committeo of both parties met in Raleigh Monday and made the dcai. This practically assures the State to Bryan for presi dent. Under the agreement the democrats name five electors, the populists fivj and the silver party one. This gives the whole eleven votes to Brvan for president and six votes to . Sewall and five votes to Watson for vice presi dent. We are of the opinion that this action was well taken. We are fight iog for the same end the defeat of the gold standard and unless we all vote together we may fail to obtain it. Tue eUotion of Bryan and a majority of congressmen who favor the free and unlimited coinage of silver is of para mount importance if we are to over throw the republican party and the gold standard. To this end the dem ocrats have met the populists more than half way and conceded . them a larger representaion than they are en titled to. Now let us all go to work and give North Carolina to Bryan and for free silver. Call the roll of the millionaire jupporters oi MeKinley, both Demo- tcrati and Republicans, and you will find that they cover the trust and monopoly interests of the United States. They are banded in solid phalanx on behalf of the Republican candidate. They are lavibh in their moaey to corrupt the electorate that MeKisl?y maj succeed, acd from one end of the country to the other are using the egehcies of intimidation, possessed by them as great employers of labor, to coerce their employes into voting for McKiuley, Pittsburg Post, . " DRY AX IX SORT 11 CAR'JLIXA William Jennings Bryan the nomi nee of the democratic, populist and silver parties, for tho pttsidenoy, has been in North Carolina and is gone. He entered the State at Asheville and went through by Charlotte, Greens boro, Rileigh to Goldsboro and out by Wcldon. - He made moro than a dczan speeches and never haa any man, been so honored by the people of the State. Immense crowds gath ered at the places where he stopped and made ppceohes and at all the stations along the routo the people gathered to get a glimpse of this great leader of the American people. And all who saw and heard him were well pleased with the "porsonality and magnetism of the man. It was our pleasure to see and hear him at Rocky Mount where eome 20,000 people had gathered to greet him. Although the weather was in tensely hot thecrowl stood in the sun for half as hour listening to the words of wisdom from the lips of this great leader of the people. Mr. Bryan is very much like tho picures we have seen of him. He is about six feet tall acd will weigh about ISO pounds. His voico was in bad shape at Rocky Mount being hoarse from so much out door ppeak icg but he delivered a fine speech and delighted the large crowd for thirty minutes. He is evidently in earnest in his advocacy of the doctrine of free silver and in his belief that it will be of incalculable benefit to tho people. His face shefws it. We have never seen a face that indicates more earnest convictions than his. He is a man of great firmnehg and decision of character. His arguments are couch ed in unmistakable language and ,so simple and plain that the most Jg norantcan understand. He is a man of the common people and One in whose presence the most humble will feel at ease. He dresses neat) but not costly and his manners of address are simple and unpreten tiotis. His trip to North Carolina has done much good towards uaitiag the silver forces and midj him rainy votes that he would not have gotten had ho 'iiot'como. He paid a great compliment to the people of tho State for the kind hos pitality ho had received of them'. HACKNEY BUGGIES. l am now agent for the Hackney Buggies, the best make in North Carolin.
