Motion The Two Rival Roads, That white men will rule in the eastern counties and towns in this State is being impressed very forcibly upon the negroes!. The Wilmington incident has had a good effect upon other towns. In the town of Green ville two negro aldermen of their own accord resigned and their places filled with white men. This gave the whites the majority of the board and they proceeded at once to do away with the negro policeman of the town and put a white man in his place. The chief of police also resigned and a democrat was put in his place. White men in North Carolina have been taught that they must not use the negro to run into office on. The unprincipled white mail who. will try to incite the negro to work against his best interest so that he may hold office is the man to be dreaded in this State. Wilmington did ngnt to send such white men . , 4- f 1 1 1 rrtt .uui; ui iter uoruers. ine sooner the State is rid of such men the wuci lur me oiate ana tne ne gro too. As the two roads run to prac tically the same point, traverse almost the same territory and were designed for primarily the same purpose- development of the lumber interests between here and the Cape Fear river, there is naturally pretty sharp rivalry between them. So the other day when air. B. G.
