Sam Snokes' Letter- I have took up my pen once more ig-.in to see if I can write a few lines, about the times and any thing else that comes in the way. There are kwo things Uiut pesters me mighty bad about writing. One is, that my pen will not wiite, and the other is something else. This is the same pen that Washington used when he signed ti.e Declaration of ludepeu uence. It has been handed down from one genet ation to others, till, at last, it has follen into my bandj. Some things, you know, will stick in a family. Th times are about like they have always been ewr chan ging, but never to good. "Hard times" is such a common saying, that 1 have got so it don't scare me. The timss are good enough; it is the hard peot le that makes the trouble. .Some tellers irouud here are leaving, and going to Ix .s and o her , because, a they say, the times are too ha d about here. It i not hard t.impv tliof u;i I - - --v v kwwu alio , a feller every time he leares home; it is oftcuer because he is "mashed." Now boys, take the advice of one who has some experience in such matters : If you get mashed, don't go to Texas or Georgia or anywhere else, because, if you leave home, you will, get "mashed" worse thau ever I have i-ricu n, ami Know all about it. Well -I'll declare I keep gitting worse ! I don't know what to say now! I have got clear otr the track. This is too bad to be read by the pnbljc. Pleas don't publish this. This is all 4 the paper I have. I seud this just to let you know my excuse for not wri ting. Remember this is not to be published. Removal Discussiou. j Several months ago, the young j men attending The Suniraerville High Scliool met in the Academy building ' and organized the Sumtuervillc High j School Debasing Society, which has proved very successful. At their last meeting.the following subject was chosen : Resolved, that the County Site of Harnett, ought to be m Ved from Lillington to Dunn. This debate will occur on Wednes- day night. May 1st, commencing at half past seven o'clock and a general . .... . ... , invitation is extended to -jhe citizens of tlie (( titity to be j resent and par- tirfpate lor lhedTscu?sidii. A. L.
