A liraTC Han and Hold Capltallat, Is Mr. Flagler, pro'irUrtor of the fa mous Tonct de Leon Hotel, of St. Augus tine, Florida, if we may jui',re from the following taken from the Baltimore Sun : Carious stories come from tlie Ponce d ! Leoo Hotel in St. August me. Mr. Flajf- ler's eipenditure there now amount to nearly eb.OOU.OOO. tarly in January there were onlf twelve euests in the hotel. At the same time two band were engaged by the botel. One was a famsn band that plnytd during the dinner hour on J man dolins and sanz quaint Spanish , sores, l he other was a famous ew York band, which played in the courts and at the morning andevemngconcerts. Mr. Sravey, the manager of the bote. wrote Mr. Flagler and suggrstrd.as there were only twelve guests in the bouse, he dispense with one ol the bands. Mr Flag ler wrote buck that he didn't want any suggestions trom Mr. Sravey as to bow expenses could be decreased, but that if he had anything, to say as to how the at tractiveness ol the hotel could be increas ed, be would be glad to b-ar from him. Mr. Flagler does not seem discouraged, lie kasjust bought the railroads running Irani St. Augustine to Pahitka and from St. Augustine to Jacksonville. Last Sun day be changed both of these to broad gauge roads and shortened the schedule more than bait, lie is going to build a bridge over the St. John's river, so that the vestibule trains can run into St. An gustine, to cost $300, KK), a magnificent church and a union depot that will cost about $200,000. This depot be will sur round with a superb park, lie is paving every street running to the hotel with asphalt at but own expense, ln short, he is determined to make St. Augustine the grandest pleasure resort on earth. His Russian baths in the Akaiar cost $300, 000, and are luxurious beyond descrip tion. He says he will spend $20,000,000 before he has completed his pleasure plant to meet his ideas. -Csrniot a few more Mr;" Flaglers' be found ) If so, we can show them a place where a smaller investment will make larger returns than in St. Augustine, and that place is Asheville, FmsT Pkesbytkkian Chwch.
