Fruit DAiiicer and Kemediett. !
An excessive amount of fruit, or, if
eaten either in the tinriw or over ripe
state, produces various disturbances in
the system, chiefly so because of its ten
dency to ferment and decompose within
the digestive tract, and to produce stom
ach ami bowel disorders. If these dis
turbances arc not too great, or too pro
longed, they need occasion no sjecia1
anxiety. A "dose of castor oil, to which
a few drops of laudanum have I wen
added, is usually sutlicicnt to clean out
the irritating "debris," ami in a day or
two the natural equilibrium is restored.
It there is much griping and pain with
the movements, ami these become too
numerous to be comfortable, the dose ot
oil should be followed by curtailing ae
livitv by quiet and repose by a diet ot
meat broths, containing rice, barlcv or
sago; by rice ami milk, milk toast, etc.
