In a discus sion before the Hritish association on the subject of electric execution, V. II. Trice, chief eleetrieiaii of the postofHce depart ment said that the act recently passed by the New York legislature provitliiur tor the execution of condemned murderers by electricity would have to le rescinded. He claimed that it was impossible to get a current of sufficient intensity to kill a man with certainty. He had experimen ted with an enormous current and had tried with a spark twenty inches long to kill a pig, but could not. He knew of several instances of persons taking shocks nnd at the time supposed to have been killed, but were afterwards quite well. He said that sensational reports pub lished in tlienewspacrs about people be ing killed by shocks from electric wires had upon investigation been found to lie nonsense.
