Makkid, Jan. 12. From information
given out by the police officials, accord
ing to dispatches received from Olcot, il
believed that n man arrested there on
suspicion is tlie murucrcr oi ncnerai
Seliverstoff. It is ulso said that He is
really Pudlcwski.
The prisoner in appearance is said to
exactly answer the the description of the
murderergiven out by the French detec
tives. It is also asserted that the man
rrcstcd admits he commit ted the mur
der, adding that it was for a "political
bject." He failed in his plan to embark
for the Ui.itcd States at Barcelona
owing to the passport regulations being
sn strictlv cnlorced at that port. Con
sequently the prisoner snvs ne reiurnen
in nleot because he thought he would be
safe there owing to the absence of rail
way communication with that town.
l'adlcwski ilcclares the killing of Gen.
SchvcrstnlV was not a crime "not ii
criminal murder," but a "political act.'
He claims he was lietruvcil to tue ponce
bv the custom officer, who represented
himself, as leing a member of the secret
society. The prisoner is perfectly cairn
and collected.

After the collision the BriUnuia, which

In the January issue of the New York

of light and space is offered in every por
