Information received here from Serajevo, capital of Hosnia, show that a serious disaster visited Le- ona. An avalanche crashed down from the mountains close by that place and a number ol houses in the town were com pletely buried in snow. The immense weight of snow crushed the houses upon which it fell and their occupants were buried in the ruins ol their dwellings. Attempts were immediately made to recover the bodies ol the dead and to ex tricate the living. So far the rescuers have succeeded in recovering the bodies nt seventeen per sons crushed to death. The steamer liritau- nia, from Lcith, came into collision with the steamer Bear, from Gragc-Mouth in Firth-nf-Forth, Scotland, nt an early hour yesterday morning. The Hear sank immediately, her crew having no time to launch thebont or make any effort what ever to save themselves. Of the fourteen men on board the Hear twelve went down with the vessel. Two others were rescued bv a boat from the Britannia. After the collision the BriUnuia, which wnslindlv damaged, transferred her forty five passengers to the steamer Thames, and was taken in tow by that vessel, the two vessels proceeding slowly in the di rection of Unth. They had not gone far, however, liefore the hawser connecting the vessels was snapped asunder. Before another line could be carried to the dam aged vessel she gave a ternlhc plunge and sank beneath the waves. II. Campbell, of this place, located on Havwood street. The article has two illustrations of the factory, the first a view of the building and the second a floor plan ol the factory.
