At 2 o'clock yesterday Lieutenant Gov ernor Holt arrived from his homeiii Haw River and was immediately driven to the cnpitol, where he walked into the execu tive olliee, and taking the Bible in the presence of the slate and city officials, was sworn in as governor by Chief Jus tiic Mer imoi. Me then took u view of the remains ol Gov. Fowlc as they lay in state in tl.e eapilol rotunda. Mr. Samuel F. Telfair, Gov. Fowle's private secretary, was in Baltimore and telegraphed that he would reach Raleigh last evening. Adiutaut General Glenn arrived at noon yesterday and made preparations to invite the whole state guard to be picscnt at the funeral today. The governor's remains were placed in a beautiful rosewood casket in the ro tunda of the eapilol. Heavy drapery was hung from the stately walls and railings above, adding a gloom beyond deset iption. Ling folds of mourning were wound around the whole building and it stood a mourner for the staleovcr its chief.
