THE ETATA CAFTl'RED AT BAN DIEGO. Her Captain Placed Under Ar- rest-Two Other Boat's Found Inalde the Three Mile Limit Smuggling Supplies. San Dikoo, Cal. May 6. Last night U. 8. marshal Gnrd seized the Chilian steamer Etata, now receiving supplies in the harbor, and placed Capt. Manzeum under arrest. Telegrams have been passing between this city and the depart ment at Washington which brought about the above results. Tug boats bave left to seize two vessels seen out side, one of which is supposed to be Robert and Minnie, and the other a war ship belonging to the insurgents, which has been hovering uround the entrance to the harbor to receive the supplies taken onboard the Etata. The warship was first sighted about noon yesterday passing north. Ten hours later she passed the harbor going south, laying to just north of the Coronado islands. Custom Officer Berry sent a party out to investigate, who reported seeing a larue vessel wnicti they could not ap proach nearer than two miles on account of her steaminga way from them. Orders were received Irom secretary Blaine to seize both vessels if found with in the three-mile limit, and marshal Gard and collector Berry went out last night in different tugs for that purpose. At midnight Inst the nuj'it Ktata received forty head of cattle, twenty-five head ol shctp, and three thousand pounds of (ircsseci meat irom a Icrry boat at Lo ranado. The vessel had also received other stores, including 800 tons of coal. As soon as all provisions nnd fuel were on Hoard she expected to leave the harbor ind cruise between here and Latahna to meet the schooners Robert and Minnie from which which she Wds to take Rem ington rifles nnd nmunition. She was to sail last night. NO INDICTMENTS FOUND. The Report or the New Orleans Grand Jury. New Orleans, Muy 6. After six weeks investigation the grand jury has completed its laborson the Hcnnessv case and the killing of the Italians at the Parish prison. The jury is emphatic in its expression of the conviction that the result of the trial of the Italians was due to tamper ing with the jury by Detective O'Mullv and others associated with and employed oy mm. Asto thcMaha the grand nirv says: The range of our researches has develop ed the existence of a secret organization styled "Maliu." Evidence conies from several sources fully competent in them selves to attest it as the truth, while the tact is supported by a long record ol blood-curdling crimes, it being almost im possible to discover the perpetrators or secure witnesses. The report concludes: "The maeni- tude ot this affair makes difficult the task to fix guilt on any particular member of the participants; iu tuct it seemed to in volve the entire people of the parish and city of New Orleans so profuse is their sympathy anu cxienueu is tneir connec tion with the atlair. An examination of the subject has failed to disclose the neces sary facts to justify this grand jury in presenting luutctmcnts. MORE DIRT BOLD. E. U. Carrier Will Build a Fine Stone Mansion.
