It is not nil un usual thing, in case of a fire, even though it be in a rortion of the city remote from the squ ire, for some person to telephone uptown and have an alarm turfed in from box I ''', at Powell iS: Snider. s cor ner. This is done instead of sending an alarm from the box nearest the scene of the tire. It is but natural, when a busi ness man l.ea i s the strokes of 4l2, for him to think first of his own property which may be near the Powell S: Snider alarm box, and many n trip has been made uptown that would not have been made had the alarm been sent in from the proper box.
