Hopes the Board Will Publish What It Proposes to Do Next. Eihtoh The Citizen : I have al ways been, or at least have endeavored to be, a law abiding citizen, but I must acknowledge that the laws of our city have become so complicated I do not know when I have complied with a!l the requirements, and I do not thinK any one does unless it be the honorable board of health. And I do hope they will publish what they know or what they propose to do next. so that we poor. i ignorant people may know what to do. , as we do not wish .to violate any law. I have carefully read the vaccination ordinance passed by the city council and. have endeavored to comply with all of its requirements as I understand them, which I am able to prove by one of the oldest physicians in the city, but aa there was nothing said .about get ting a certificate from him I did not know such a thing was necessary. But now I find that I must not only have a certificate but I must take it before this honorable board of health at any minute they may see fit to order me. or else I will be taken with a warrant and forced before a police justice, as four poor working ladies were last Sat urday evening, and one of them I know had her certificate and held it in read iness whenever she mlgnt be c alled on. But she too was arrested anil taken Into the police court to show . to chat honorable board of health her certifi cate. Now, If there Is any law for suc h a proceeding I have never seen it or heard of it. It is simply a disgrace to the city of Asheville to allow poor working girls to be taken .from their work by a police officer and forced into a police court In this way. when they have compiled w ith all the law requires of them. or as they understand it. There are at least three-fourths of the good people In Asheville who have been vac cinated ,who have never thought of getting a certificate, and why should this honorable set of gentlemen make such a discrimination against the working class. I would like to know. W. L. MOORE. Q. U. I. S. I. S. A. N. A. What does that mean? Ans. Here you will grow well. 167 S. French Broad avenue. "Joshua Simpkins" drew a fair au4'- ence at matinee Saturday afternoon and a better one in the evening. It was the intent and purpose of each member of the cast, excepting the villain, to be runny, and the audience, being good natured, took the will for the deed. The piece is a conventional rural farce-comedy, in which a realistic saw nill scene, accompanied by a thunder storm and a heavy downpour of snare Iruni tain is the principal feature. The musical specialties were distinct ly 'good, and the company carries one fine piece of scenery a moonlight view of Washington city and the Potomac. GREETING.
