A few days ago the wife of James Furman, a colored man. presented him with a sen. Furman. who is 6a years old, did seem surprised. He is the father of 26 children. In ISiiO he married Anna Jones of Stew artsviile. w ho w as 17 years old. She bore him 14 children, of whom on was a girl. She died in 1S7S and a year later Furman. then 3S years old. mar ried Mary Hunt, 16 years old. His sec ond union has been blessed by 12 chil dren eieht boys and four girls, in cluding two pairs of twins. So, out of children, only five were girls.
