the near months, although the distant
positions made a show of holding their
own, particularly October, which appear
ed to be the center of the speculative de
mand. On the close prices were net un
changed to 60 points Llgh-r, January
being unchanged, while October was 60
points up. ' Spot quotations wera revined
and while the revision favored the seller.

The opening was higher and th. Im-
provoment was maintained for sometime
on a very strong Liverpool. January
roao to 40.00 and the trading months
stood 29 to 67 points over last week's
close. Offerings increased and the
market fell off until it stood 30 points
down to 23 points up, compared with last
weeks final prices, in the afternoon
there were recoveries which were par
ticularly on' October, which mon tu final
ly went to an advance of 79 Points.
Other months did not quite reach their
former high levels, ana mis irregularity
was even more -rkod on the close.
Pressure on Jan I appeared to come
