The signs now indicate the usual increase of busi nass and such reasonable indulgencies as are peculiar to the season. May none be disappointed. Mr. John Smith gave us, Wednesday last, a most peculiar corn formation. The main ear, which was about seven inches in length, was surrounded by eleven small ears each growing from the same parent stem and forming a bonnet shape at the large end of the main ear. Since the legislature has declared property in dog? they are becoming the sublets of much vexed litigation. While they are poor property they often give rise to disputes which destroy even the best of friendships. The law of ex termination would be the best in the vast majority of instances. Edenton would grow in popnlation a great deal if our citizens would only build more dwellings. Everyday we have calls from strangers dtsiring to settle in our midst, but unable to get houses. Citizens, stir up. Let this be no longer the difficulty. Build and ac commodate those wishing to come here. The immense success experienced in the Ovster trade this season enables me to furnish mv patrons and friends at rates cheap and within the reach of all. Twenty-live ceuts per quart.
