Barber, ot Winfall, has been ill at his home for sev eral days. Miss Mary Corey, of Berkley, is visiting friends on Bagley Swamp. Mr. Robert Bell, of Chapa noke, spent Sunday with friends in Winfall. Miss Mamie Stanton, of Win fall, was the guest of Misses Speight last week. Miss Leana Riddick, of Nica nor, visited her aunt, Mrs. M. L,. Speight, last week. Miss Lula Whitehurst, of E. City, spent last week with friends neai Berea. Mr. Harry Baker, of Winfall, killed a fine porker las', week, weighing 532 pounds. Mr. T. Iv. Spence is erecting a very nice dwelling near Rose dale. Mr. Joseph Hewill, of" Muni tord,has gone to work on the Dismal Swamp Canal. Mr. J.J. Fleetwood, accompa nied by his sister, Mrs. Gregory, spent Sunday with friends near Mt. Sinai. Messrs, John Northcott and Parish, of Edenton, spent Sun day with friends near Winfall. Dr. W. S. Temple, of Mum ford, has seat his new invention, a rice mill, to Washington to be patented. Miss Gertie Whitney ,of Mum ford, spent last week with her sister, Mrs. P. G. Pritchard, near Berea. Mr. James White will preach at Newland M. E. Church next Sunday. Rev. Simeon Overton and Miss Maggie Sawyer were married Wednesday in Camden county. Mr. Will Gregory, of E. City, is the guest of Mr. Charlie Wood in Providence township this week. Mr. A. W. Jordan, residing near Winfall, keeps the market supplied with fresh fish consist ing of shad, herring and rock. Mr. Robert 1 Joyce, who has been at the home of the poor for a few years, departed this life on January 19th. Age 80 years. Mr. J. M. Whitehurst, ot Be rea, killed a large eagle last Monday. The eagle measured seven feet from tip of wings. Miss Annie Morgan and Mrs. Joe Davis, of Berea, spent last week with relatives and friends in Newland township. Miss Missouri M. Jackson, of Providence, spent last week with Miss Maggie Askew, at Mun ford, N. C. Mr. Dale and family, of Cho wan county, has moved to Win fall ; he is occupying the store of Joseph White. He has a fine display of goods. Miss Mary Harris, of isram bleton, Va., returned home last Friday after visiting relatives in Pasquotank county. Mr. B.C. Jackson a prominent citizen of Rosedale, has purs chased the Turnpike farm, in Upper Pasquotank, for the sum df$3'250 Messrs. E..J. Spence, A. S. Morgan, Will Kight and Sam'l. Williams, of Pasquotank county, spent some time last wek at Norfolk on business. The session of the Ycopim Union will be held at Bethe! chuich near Hertford this week. A large crowd is expected and dinner will be served 011 the ground. Rev. T. G. Wood preached a very instructive sermon last Sunday at the New Romouth Gilead church to an appreciative congregation. The delegates to the Union Meeting to represent Ramouth Gilead church are Messrs E. Overman, N.A. Jones and Sam'l Williams. Mr. R. H. Morgan, of Muui ford.is now supplying his neigh bors with corn at 33 cents a bushel.
