News of the Week front Rosman MRS. JORDAN WHITMIRE, Correspondent ' .Mrs M. M. Hines of Easley, S. C., spent the past week visiting Mrs. B. B. White, returning to her home Sunday. She was accompanied home by Mr. White, and son Boyce, Mar garet and Braxton White, and Misses Ophilia and Elsie White. Rev. J. E. Burt and son J. E. and Jack Nelson were visitors to Anderson Saturday visiting Mr. and Mrs. W. P. Tinsley. They were ac companied home by the former’s daughter, Miss Ruth, who had been visiting in South Caro ina for sev eral days. Mr. and Mrs. McCrary and grand daughter, Mrs. Bantuyn and Mrs. McNeill and daughter of Asheville j were Sunday guests of Mr. and Mrs. J. P. Morgan. Mrs. W. E. Galloway and sons! Weldon and Cecil, were week-end guests of the former’s daughter Mrs. Claude Hutchson. Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Murphy j of Pickens county were Sunday guests of Mr. and Mrs. Lee Fisher. Jack Smith and sons of Green ville were week-end guests of Mrs. T. V. Smith. Mrs. Elvin Edney and baby and Mrs. Gene Moore and baby spent Tuesday night as guests of Mr. and Mrs. L. M. Watkins. Miss Pauline Powe 1 of Brevard1 visited Mrs. J. B. Rogers Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. C. E. Pharr ami son Jimmy of Statesville spent a few days the first of the week as guests of the formers’ brother A. M. Pharr and Mrs. Pharr. Miss Frances Edens is spending this week in Asheville visiting Miss Willie Cantrell. Mrs. Anderson Smith and Mrs. Nolle McCov of Quebec, visited Mrs. T. V. A party from Rosman composed of Misses Irene Pharr, Virginia Oats, LaVerne Whitmire, Elvira Nealy, of Pickens, and Mr. and Mrs. Jordan Whitmire motored to Highlands Sunday, joining another party from Cullowhee and Highlands and visited several places of interest including Sunrise and Sunset Rocks, Horse Cove, Highlands Country Club, White side mountain, High Hampton, Fair-( field and Toxaway Falls. A picnic dinner was enjoyed and the party reports a pleasant outing. CHKRRYFIELD CHOIR AT LOCAL CHURCH. Rosman M. E. church received a treat in singing Sunday night wheir the Cherryfield choir under the di-j reetion of Mr. Winchester and Mr. Cassell rendered special music in connection with the regular preach ing services. HIKE GREATLY ENJOYED SUNDAY. A hike was greatly enjoyed Sun day. Misses Hazel Moore, Lila Gil lespie, Mary and Kate Waldrop, Messrs. Bill Cantrell, J. D. Powel', Lewis and Harry Waldrop hiked to East Fork on a picture taking, swimming and Chinquapin expedi tion. Fo rthe past ten days, Cedar Mountain school has maintained an average of 46 pupils. They are ex pecting a new teacher to a&ist Miss Dixie Jones, who is doing splendid work under the crowded conditions. A new brige is being completed to take the place of the old “Wheel er” bridge, which fell in last week when a truck driven by Mr. Merri 1 was too much for the old structure. The school bus is now able to make its regu ar run to Blue Ridge. Most of the summer residents of j Cedar Mountain have returned to their homes. | _ W. 0. W. NEWS W. H. The night session will be held with Ruther fordton Camp No. 980. Sovereign Royster is well known to leading Woodmen in Western North Caro- ( lina. He is one of Rutherford Coun- ■ ty’s leading citizens and will have ■ everything in ship-shape for us' when we visit there. W. C. Barnes, secretary of Camp will assist Sov-| ereign Royster as a member of the committee. A special meeting of ah I members will be held soon, at which j time, President C. P. Goforth of Kings Mountai nwill attend and de liver his instructions to the mem bers. — I would like to hear from camps that have organized "Blue Eagle Clubs” as suggested in last week's Times. There is not one single Camp that cannot get one_ or more applications by October 25th. Every Camp secretary should take it upon himself to keep his Camp on record by getting applications be tween each Semi-annual Convention. Every Camp should rend one or more members to each an devory conven tion, both state and district, there by, keeping up with .what’s going on at large over the state. The camps that do not send delegates are the dead Camps, how about yours? We hope to have some real new regarding the November Fied Day; for next week. We still pull for Hickory.
