A large crowd foregathered at the high school steps soon after the close of the day’s classes, and after a hubbub of kissing, handshaking, backslapping and comparisons of husbands, wives and children, all re moved to the appointed p ace, one of the most beautiful and popular camps in the Forest. Here the first clamor of greetings ..'d congratulatons was resumed, in ispersed with loud cries of “When v.c cat?" Lunches were brought •lit and the most important business (Jf the evening was attended to with ..eat pu.-to and fervor. Large piles pickles, cake, bananas and sand-, iches melted like asperin in the ■ d.w. Jack Trantnam, raemner in sister class of ’27, was popularly ac-, claimed champion. Mr. Trantham's showing was based on the consump tion of twenty-two of Miss A berta Ivnkins’ Googinslockers homemade giaham sandwiches, seventeen each • I nil ethers, and twelve bananas. I maintain, however, if Walter Glaze ner had the two extra inches of i each which Mr. Trantham possessed, Jack would have run a bad second. I was ret tv close to the cake, my-, -If. ‘ After these proceedings were over, the meeting was called to order, and cretary Tom Mitchell called the roll which, except for a few gaps here and there by the missing was i ntirely complete. No new members wore added. This important detail was followed with speeches by some of the married ladies present. Mrs. Mitchell For tune was very interesting on A guaranteed recipe for indigestible biscuits.” This fell somewhat flat however, as all other ladies present declared that each was n'ready in fallible in that line. Mrs. . J. Jones made a highly instructive talk on "How two can live as cheaply as one,” but admitted that the know ledge was no longer of value to her is her Two had already become Three. Mrs. Edgerton Fletcher, on bong called upon, declared that she toud not make a speech m public, and recalling other and former at tempts of amateur speechmakers, t.w gathering did not insist. Comparative statistics disclosed that fourteen of the girls had made -n equal number of men happy (. >• , bile only two boys had committed hoimelves. (Secret marriages not •noted). We concluded that the ••ills must have taken advantage of •he last leap year, while the boy* ’ nve leaped for years Tardv members arriving at wtei vals through the evening were made splrome and led to the banquet i ahle which incidentally, had no. beer, entirely deserted through the whi le time. . , , . 1 Guests of the evening included. Mrs W. W. Brittain, one of the fav orite teachers of the class in -9i who unfortunately could not stay for the proceedings but very kindly wish ed us a most happy reunion. Miss Grace Duckworth was along, to chaperone Elizabeth; the afo ey mentioned Jack Trantham was ab» among those present. However, ..on* of the guests brought their own lunch. a We- deeply regretted that more of cur former teachers cou d not be present, but a previous engagement detained some of them, while others were out of the city. . , !
