Cards Mailed To All Subscrib
ers In Arrears—Good
Response Expected
A total of 28 new and renewals
have been received by The Times
during the past week, majority of
these coming from Brevard and the
county, with a good representation
from other sections.
Cards have been mailed during
the past few days to oil subscribers
whose time expired October first
or before, asking for renewal at an
early date and calling attention to
the fact that the price will neces
sarily have to be raised soon.
It \va thought necessary by man-'
agemcnt o!' The Times that the price
would be raised the first of the
month but this move has been put
olf on account of the fact that the
National Editorial Association code
is being worked cut with NR A of
ficials in Washington at this time,
with completion expected during the
t ally part ot this week, at which.
time, mice of the paper will be
based upon cost of production, and j
for thi> reas- n the rate of $1.00 in
the county and $1.50 outside was not
changed by The Times.

FAKE DOCTOR SAID

Women’s Civic Club Taking
Steps To Stop Malprac

Featuring the meeting of tlw
Women’s Civic club held Monday
ilternocn at the U. D C library was
a program of unusual interest and
infoimation presented by Mrs; Frank
Jenkins on the subject of American
Citizenship, with particular em
phasis on good citizenship and the
duties of wemefl in the- matter of
voting. Mrs. Jenkins traced the de
velopment of the word citizen from
the time of the ancient Greeks and
Romans to the meaning of the word
in present day terms, in a concise
and intelligent manner.
Mrs. L. B. Haynes spoke a few
words tfti the necessity of the club
members going to the polls and vot
ing according to thrir own individual
convictions and made reference _ to
several articles in current magazines
on the general subject of citizenship
and voting.
Discussion was made of the mat
ter of an alleged lake “three-day
doctor” going about this county and
by means of extortion getting money
from people in the outlying district*
of the county for so-called medical
treatment and medicines, which he
apparently feared to send through
the mails. Cases of this man’s mal
practice through the upper end ot
the county especially, were cited by
seme of the club members. Miss
Katherine Griffin and Mrs. Frank
Jenkins were appointed on a com
mittee to confer with the county
health officer or other proper au
thorities in an effort to cheek fur
ther disturbance of this nature
throughout the county.
Reports from committee chairmen
present were given, and other mat

IT’S YOUR FAIR — SO BE THERE
()lT know, ever since
the Indians found out
the pleasure of smoking to
bacco, there have been many
ways of enjoying it.
But of all the ways in
which tobacco is used, the
cigarette is the mildest form.
Another thing—cigarettes
are about the most conve
nient smoke. All you have
to do is strike a match.
Everything that money
can buy and everything that
science knows about is used
to make Chesterfields.
The right home-grown
tobaccos—seasoned with just
enough aromatic Turkish
— are blended and cross
blended the Chesterfield
way.
Then the cigarettes are
made right —firm, well-S
filled.. Chesterfield uses the
right kind of pure cigarette
paper.
There are other good ciga
rettes. of course, but Chest
erfield is ,
the cigarette that's
milder, the cigarette
that tastes letter.
Chesterfields satisfy—
we ask you to try them.
