HOSTS TO FATHERS Extra Fine Program anti Good Meal Enjoyed By Over Hundred People ROSMAN, Dec. 5—Young Tar Heel Farmers of the Rosman high »chn 1 were host* to fathers and a number of invited guests at the ban quet room of the. school Tuesday night of last week in one of the most enj. yuble affairs of the school year. A program that was interesting, instructive and well given knt itself tc making a success of the father son event, furthered by an. appetiz ing meal prepared and served by members of the Home Economics class. Practically all foods served were home grown, the following menu being served: F’uit cocktail, fried chicken, gravy, candied sweet potatoes, string beans, hot rolls, but ter, mashed potatoes, pickles, cab ling? salad, ice cream, coffee cake, mints, and, peanuts. Four-leaf programs in the shape rf an ear of corn and the unique place cards and favor baskets were all hand made and displayed artis tic ralc-nt. The room was appropri ately decorated with emblems of the chapter, with backgrounds of farm product- and mountain growths. K. J. Whitmire, president of the chapter, presided over the meeting, the welcome address being given by Ted Harbin. L. V. Sigmon, county commissioner and county account ant, responded to the address of welcome. The Rev. .J. E. Burt, pas ter of Rosman Baptist church gave the invocation, followed by music by the East Fork string band which also furnished music throughout the evening. Several members of the Rosman chapter took part on the varied pro gram, President Whitmire speaking briefly on “What Vocational Agri culture Has Meant To Me,” and Warren Case telling of the trip tak en by the boys this summer to White I.ake.
