Douglas and others have made into one of the best weekly newspapers in the two Carolir.as, carries each week a col umn entitled "Glancing Beck at Bre vard.” Each week there are item# taken 1'roni the Sylvan Valley New# of 30-odd years ago, telling the things that happened during that period. v The column is of particular inter est to those familiar with the hit-1 lory of Brevard, but it interests even those who have never lived there, This week, for instance, the papec carries an item about the marriage in 1897 of a wealthy widower who was d2 years of age, and his bride, who was 38. All turned out for the wedding, and the item said it was “the talk of the town.” Evidently styles in newspapering, have changed since 1897. We could | not imagine a newspaper, in Green-, ville, Brevard or elsewhere, publish-, ing the ago of the bride these days! Self praise, little merit Pitiable the girl who marries only, ■i meal ticket. Women, like chickens, have less on when dressed, Tie a dog to a cat and they fight; so with wedding ties. i3*v5B5*' Honor Roll rupii* Grnnv Pfiawry D«ptrtuenl Lin* la (Im Lead PRIMARY DEPARTMENT Perfect Attendance—Henry Cut to.
