SIMPSOS The Homemakers class of the Bap tist church met Tuesday afternoon at the heme of Mrs. Orville Simpson for the regular class meeting. In the absence of the president, Mrs. S. W. Radford, the meeting was in charge of the vice president, Mrs. W T. Bosse, who also gave the scripture lesson. Plans were outlined for social gatherings and for other future activities of the class. Following refreshments served dur ing the social hour, adjournment was made until the June meeting which will be held at the home of -Mrs. C. S. Osborne. Many games were played to the delight of the boys and girls present to celebrate the happy occasion with Virginia. The opening of the birthday gifts also afforded pleasure to the hostess and guests. Punch, cake and mints were served during the evening. ELECTS OFFICERS IX IXTERESTIXG MEETING An interesting meeting of the Waightstill Avery chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolu tion, held Monday afternoon at the home of Miss Florence Kern, fea tured the annual election of officers, together with the transaction of other matters pertaining to the chapter. Miss Annie Jean Gash conducted the program, reading an interesting article by the president general, on "Happy Landings.” The resolutions of the Continental Congress was read by Mrs. Ramsey, and a portion of the president general’s address at continental congress was read by Miss Kern. Following refreshments served dur ing the social half-hour, the chapter adjourned to meet in June with Miss Annie Jean Gash, at which time a Flag Day program will be given by Miss Gash and Mrs. td Pat ton. METHODIST CIRCLES WILL MEET THURSDAY AFTERNOOS The three circles of the Methodist church will meet this afternoon (Thursday) in the different homes of members, all beginning at 3:00 o’clock. Circle No. 1 will meet at the home of Mrs. W. L. Aiken; circle No. 2 with Mrs. J. F. Zachary; and circle No. 3 with Mrs. T. W. Whitmire. It is requested by the different chairmen that all ladies of the church attend one of these meetings to which they have been assigned. MRS. Harris entertained with a dinner party at her home Thursday evening, honoring the seventeenth birthday anniversary and also the graduation from high school of her niece, Miss Charlotte Patton. The senior class colors of blfie and gold were prettily carried out in the decorations of spring flowers, in the bouquets as favors, in the mint cups and in the course dinner served.
