Henderson had as dinner guests last Sunday Rev. J, E. Burt end Mrs. L. E. Reece. Charles McCall was a dinner guest sfid spent the afternoon Sunday with Oscar Henderson. On Wednesday of last week T. C. Henderson had a "working” on the dam for his lake. About a dozen boys of the community who %ye anxious for a ‘‘dip" in the lake came to help in the work. Rain came during the day and prevented the completion of the work ready for the damming up of the water. Therefore Mr. Henderson is to give another public dinner and let the boys give another day’s work in an effort to complete the work on the dam and get the lake ready for the swimmers who want to swim and the divers who want to dive and tha lookers on who want to see the sport Wednesday of this weet is set for completing this work and placing the cap on the drain pipe. All members of the W. M. U. are urged to attend the meeting next Thursday afternoon at the church for the election of officers for the ensuing year. Mr. and Mrs. J. 0. Morris and children and Mrs. Beatrice Marshall and son Walter of Lexington, Ky., were recent visitors of relatives here. Funeral services for little Thomaa, two-year old son of Mr, and Mrs. Philmore Searcy were conducted at Oak Grove church last Monday at 10:00 a. m. by Rev. H. L. Souther. Interment was made in Oak Grove cemetery. Mr. and Mrs Claud Owen announce the birth of a son on June 1st Mrs. W. Duncan of Bristol, Tenn„ is visiting Mr. and Mrs. W. P. Mrs. Wiltie Cairnes ,a former resi dent of this section but who has made her home on Mills River for the past several years, died at the homo of her daughter, Mrs. Eugene Holden, on i June 9th. Funeral services were con ducted at Shepherd’s Funeral Home i?» Hendersonville Monday at 10:00 a. m and interment made at Davidson River cemetery. Mr. and Mrs. A. R. McGuire of Brevard, Miss Dorothy Souther and Mr. Bert Duncan were visiting friends in Franklin Saturday night and Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. C. H. Case and children of Pickens, S. C„ visited relatives here Saturday and Sunday.
