ERWIN Tax Collector for TransylvaniaJCounty OAKLAND NEWS ! (Mrs. Lee F. Norton) Well, it seems good to be on the job of greeting- cur old friends through the news columns again. We nad a delightful visit and very much regretted to leave our old and newly made friends but owing to the extreme heat ur.d ill health we thought it best to return to the mountains. Would like to say that while on my visit I met a number of our editor’s relatives and now court them among our special friends. On my way home I stopped off at Ashe ville and spent two delightful days at Enka with Mr. and Mrs. Cleveland Nichol-on .and Miss Evon Sanders. Believe me, Enka is a busy little town. I am reliably informed that the Enka plant gives employment to about 3,000 persons. Those who failed to attend Sunday : school at Lake Toxaway Baptist j church Sunday missed a real treat. First we had a wonderfully good Sun- j day school lesson and after Sunday j school we had special music. E. D.! Randolph Of Rosman and a few of his best singers were with us, among wh m were Rev. Carl Cox. Miss L.-ota Randolph and Miss Emma Lee Galloway. Miss Randolph sang a solo accompanied with guitar music by Rev. Mr. Cox. The Misses Randolph and Galloway >arrg a duct with the same accompaniment. There were several selections that members of th. local choir joined in. Everyone pre ent seemed to enjoy the special music and we hope our friends will come again. After the singing Rev. Mr. Cox made a short talk. I S. Sanders and W. F.
