Brevard, left for home last week. Mr.
Sehoepf is engaged in the bus and
truck business in Florida and has
been very active in civic and politi
cal affairs in his state. Mr. Sehoepf
was very much impressed with Bre
vard and hopes to come back next
summer with Mrs. Sehoepf and
spend some time here, in addition
to being a business man, Mr. Sehoepf
has been active in politics and was
of gnat assistance to Senator Rey
nolds during the senator’s primary
campaign and spoke for him in many
counties in North Carolina and
proved a most helpful ally.
Mr. Sehoepf married Miss Mary
Cooper, a daughter of the late Seldon
Cooper, of Asheville, a first cousin
of ftfs. C. E. Orr and Mrs. Frank
L DeVane of Brevard and also a
niece of the late Colonel Tom Cooper
who was a prominent man in this
county and Iredell county for many
years, and she is also a niece of Col
onel William Cooper of Statesville
who was a very prominent business
man in Iredell and Buncombe coun
ties. Mr. Sehoepf is going to help
advertise Brevard and with his ac
quaintance and influence will be able
to help this section with the tourist
travel from his state.

J. B. ARLEDGE DIED
AT HENDERSONVILLE
HENDERSONVILLE, Oct. 10 —
J. B. Arledge, dfced 30, died at his
home here Sunday night after an ill
ness of several years.
He had been very active in this
section,having served as chief of
police of Hendersonville, clerked in
several stores here and served one
term as register of deeds. He is be
lieved to have been th first Democrat
to hold office in Henderson county
after the War Between the States.
The wife, who survives him, was
the former Miss Marie Gillespie of
Brevard.
M. G. JOHNSON DIES
AT HENDERSONVILLE
HENDERSONVILLE, Oct. 10—
M. G. Johnson, 47, Hendersonville
nercnant, died at H* o’clock Tuesday
night at his home here. He had been
ill three weeks.
He was a brother of Mrs. C. 0.!
Robinson, of Brevard, and a son of
Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Johnson. Funeral!
services will be held at the Methodist i
church here Thursday afternoon at
J o'clock.
Mr. Johnson was a native of Hen
dersonville, and had been in busi
ness for the past 20 years. He was a
member of the board of stewards of
the First Methodist Episcopal church
and belonged to the Woodmen of I
the World. I

Irving W. Wyatt, father of
I Howard Wyatt ot Brevard, died
j Sunday morning, September 30, at
! the home of his son in Irvington,
N. J. Funeral services were held on
1 Tuesday.
Mr. Wyatt, aged 86, was a retired
veal estate and lumber dealer of
j Newark, N. J., where he lived for
40 yeRrs, later moving to Irvington.
' lie was born in Erie, Pa. When a
! child his family moved by covered
1 wagon to the state of Wisconsin where
he was high sheriff. He
at one time wrote a letter to the then
President Hoover, in which he pre
dicted the administration of the in
coming President Roosevelt, many of
which predictions have come true to
date.
Surviving are his widow, Mrs.
Martha S. Wyatt, and three sons,
Howard, of Brevard; Halsey, of
Irvington; Bradley, of Kearney, and
one daughter, Miss Marjorie Wyatt,
of Irvington.

I brothers pleaded guilty to assault
I with deadly weapons. Dee was shot
in the arm by his brother Dan, in a
fight near their home in the Frozen
Creek section two weeks ago.

o’clock with adjournment for dinner

friends of the Calvert church, are
expected to be present for the occas
ion, including all former pastors.
Special music will be rendered by
choirs and singing groups that are
to be invited.
All who attend are expected to
bring well filled dinner baskets to be
spread picnic style at the noon hour.

be held at the Brevard court house in

than five hundred.
