(By L. M. SIMPSON) Hunting in the Piagah National Forest for the first week wae a great’treat for hunters who were lucky enough to be drawn for the first week. Almost everyone got his deer. The largest and most perfect horns were obtained by Dan Wexler of Johnson City. Tenn. There was one lady on the first week’s hunt. She was a real good sport but did not get her buck. She had several chanoes at small deer, but wanted a big buck—but he stay ed out of her way. So she went back home without a buck, but happy be cause she had had a try. There were all classes of hunters— some good shots, some poor ones. The outstanding yarn from hunters was that told by Mr. Bridges, who on the last day finally got his deer but not before shooting him 26 times and then running him for two miles before finally getting in the fatal last shot. Ten states were represented in the first week’s hunt and almost every one carried back home in his mind some beauty spot which he will come back to see at some future date. The Brevard Nursery eehsol, in charge of Mrs. Constance Banks and Mrs. John McLsau, Is reported to be J>adly in need of fuel with which to heat their school building on Jordan street Forced ta move out of the Brevard Elemdutary building several week* ago when the building wae con demned, the old Taylor house wav rented and work continued there for the thirty or more indigent Children. It is required by the relief agency that the building and fuel be supplied by the community in order to make the community eligible for the nur sery school, ail foods and salaries being paid by the federal govern ment. As there are no public funds available it necessitates the com munity joining in on the expense of the school. This is a great chance for Brevard citizens to be nice and courteous, as the sportsman is always a good spender and a good fellow to havo around More news next week Members of the British parliament recently celebrated the centenary of 1 their weekly prayer meeting.
