Heart Attack Fatal To Swimmer In Lake Fairfield Thursday Death cut short the honeymoon of Mr. and Mrs. Bert H. Moore of Cin cinnati last Thursday morning, about 10:30, when the groom of less than a week suffered a heart attack while swimming in Lake Fairfield. The young wife made a valiant effort to save her husband from going under the water when the fatal heart attack occurred, and was grlef-strtcken over her seeming Inability to save her lover from drowning. She was Informed shortly after the body was taken from the lake that Mr. Moore was dead be fore he sank to the lake’s bottom. Mr. and Mrs. Moore, both expert swimmer’s had been resting on a raft 60 feet out from the bank, and both dived off together to swim ashore. Mr. Moore called to his wife after they had gone but a few feet shoreward and said “I can’t go on." The young wife tried vainly to hold her husband’s head above water after he completely collapsed, but soon tired so that she had to release her grip, and he sank. Wade Hawkins. William Bradley, and Harry Aldrich, all of the Cashiers section, were at work on inn property a few hundred yards away. They rush ed to aid the couple, but by the time they arrived Mr. Moore had gone under and Mrs. Moore had reached the shore. Diver Recovers Body Additional help was summoned and a diver from Camp Merrl-Woode, a half mile away, brought the body to the surface 35 minutes after Mr. Moore was stricken. Resuscitation efforts were made. It was found that only a small amount of water had entered the lungs. C. W. Dills, of Sylva, coroner of Jackson county, and a physician, who was In the vicinity, made an examina tion and announced death was due to heart attack. The coroner said no Inquest would be necessary. Mr. and Mrs. Moore had arrived at Fairfield Inn on Sunday prior to his death. The bride was also a native of Cincinnati, the former Mis^ Dorothy Schubert. She accompanied the body back to Cincinnati Friday for burial. J. C. Wlke, Transylvanla_county cor oner, was at the scene when the body was recovered, and summoned the cor oner from Jackson county. Clyde McCall was elected Sun day to serve as pastor of the Lake Toxaway Baptist church for the com ing year. This Is the beginning of the sixth consecutive year that Rev. McCall has been called as pastor of this church. A check-up of the membership and financial contest of the class for the first six months showed that a total of $142.05 had been collected on the nlckel-a-week plan, with the Worker* side, of which Mrs. Lula Miller is cap tain, fh the lead over Mrs. Cordla Krug's side, the Busy Bees, by a margin ol $10.46 for the six-months period.
