GERMANY AND ITS LEADERS
TOPIC OF WEDNESDAY CLUB
“Is Germany Incurable?” was
the program topic at the regular
meeting of the Wednesday club,
which was held on the afternoon
of March 24 at the home of Mrs.
J. S. Silversteen.
Mrs. S. A. Bullock, program
leader, told of the Nazi bombastic
claims to superiority and their
incredible cruelty which seemed
to point to insanity. Allied nations
must cure and restore and the
Hitler regime must be controlled,
it was brought out.
Mrs. A. H. Kizer spoke on the
topic, “If a nation suffers from
paranoia as individuals.” She
pointed out that Germany’s boast
came originally from an inferior
complex, as shown particularly in
a desire for domination. Mrs. Roy
Long told of Hitler himself as
showing a mentally diseased state
and that his dreams have not
changed as expressed in his Mein
Kampf.
Mrs. R. W. Everett, president,
conducted the business session,
which opened with the reading of
the club collect and pledge by
Mrs. E. J. Coltrane. The president
appointed a committee of three to
complete plans for a joint meet
ing of the three federated clubs
in May with the district presi
dent. The committee includes:
Mrs. Long, Mrs. H. F. Finck and
Mrs. Kizer. Mrs. Keith Pooser,
Girl Scout council chairman, re
ported plans for a scout camp
week this summer to be held at
Camp Illahee, which will be at
tended by national workers.
Following refershments served'
by the hostess, the club adjourn
ed. Sixteen members were pre
sent and four visitors, Mrs. Reed,
Mrs. Brombacher, Mrs. Ludwig
Straus and Miss Frances Smed
berg.

MATHAT ASIAN CLUB HEARS
PROGRAM ON GERMANY
A program on “Is Germany In
curable,” was heard at the reg
ular meeting of the Mathatasian
club, which was held in the ladies’
parlor of the Methodist church
last Thursday afternoon with Mrs.
Ralph Zachary as hostess.
Mrs. Walter Duckworth, pro
gram leader, told facts of interest
and information from Dr. Richard
M. Brickner’s book, “Is Germany
Incurable?” bringing out the be
lief of the author that for five
decades the German nation has
been suffering from a dangerous
mental disease diagnosed as par
anoia. In an individual this dis
ease often ends in murder, and
in a nation it would naturally end
in war. Mrs. Walter Hart discus
sed the dangers of allowing this
condition to continue, and pointed
out the differences between Ger
man aggression and the imperial
ism that other nations have per
haps displayed.
In the absence of the president,
Mrs. Harry Sellers, Mrs. C. J.
Goodwin, vice president, presided.
Mrs. Oliver Orr, Mrs. Jerry
Jerome and Mrs. T. G. Moody were
appointed a committee to confer
with the other local book clubs to
decide the matter of inviting the
district director here for a joint
meeting with all the clubs. Mrs.
Walter Duckworth, Mrs. W. P.
Tindall and Mrs. Harold Norwood
were named on the program com
mittee for next year.
Following refreshments served
by the hostess, the club adjourn
ed to meet in April with Mrs.
Moody.
