White each Monday, Wednes day and Friday evenings by Mrs. M. 0. Pleasants. The course will require twenty hours for completion. Members of the class are as follows: Mrs. E. H. Davis, Mrs. A. P. Bell, Mrs. Frantz Bishop, Mrs. J. R. Bow man, Mrs. Mae Lusk, Mrs. Lola Lusk, Miss Elizabeth White, and Eddie Towns. SERVICES ARE ANNOUNCED Dr. Francis M. Royall, pastor of Zion Baptist church, will preach next Sunday morning at 11 o’clock. The subject will be, “Bringing Back the King.” The subject for the evening service at 8 o’clock will be “The Story in your Face.” The public is cordial ly, invited to attend each service. MORGAN - K1MZEY Miss Bessie Morgan and Lloyd Kimzey were married at Pickens, South Carolina Saturday, March 20th. Probate Judge E. A. Lewis officiated. Mrs. Kimzey is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Morgan, of Frozen Lake, in the old Tox away section. Mr. Kimzey is the son of Tom Kimzey, of near Rosman and is employed in logging business at Lake Toxaway. The couple will reside for the present at the home of the bride’s parents. PERSONAL NEWS Mr. and Mrs. W. L. Harmon and Mrs. L. V. Sigmon were Sun day guests of Mr. and Mrs. W. R. Lewis in Easley, S. C. Mr. and Mrs. E. A. Glazener and Mr. and Mrs. Frantz Bishop were Sunday guests of Rev. and Mrs. Morgan Kizer in Weaverville. Chief of Police T. S. Wood, who has been ill for several days, is able to be out again. Rickmond Manley returned home last Wednesday from Camp Edwards, Mass., after receiving an honorable discharge from the U. S. army. Miss Nora Millsaps returned to her home in Asheville last week after spending the past three weeks at the home of J. E. White j and family. Mrs. U. S. Tolley and family moved Saturday from Church street to their newly purchased home in the Cherryfield section. Mrs. Mildred Tolley and children moved Monday from Lake Tox away to the house vacated by Mrs. W. S. Tolley. Mrs. M. N. Moore, of Cherry field, is spending several days with her son, Boyd Moore and Mrs. Moore. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Bailey and daughter, Mildred, visited Mrs. Bailey’s sister, Mrs. Odell Gray and Mr. Gray at Williamston’s Creek Sunday. Mrs. Margie Petit, of Hender sonville, spent the week-end with her son, Otto Petit and Mrs. Petit. Mr. and Mrs. Duke Gravely and children, of Pickens, were Sun day guests of the former’s broth er, Perry Gravely and Mrs. Grave ly Leslie Nicholson left Tuesday for St. Petersburg, Fla., for a visit with Mr. and Mrs. A. S. bomber station in England, where he works with electrical recording devices that have to do with pilot’s navigation and weather flying. A picture of “Pat” appeared in a recent issue of the “Stars and Stripes,” show ing him at a table at work with his recording devices somewhere in England. Capt. Lee Conley has recently been promoted to the rank of captain at the armed forces re cruiting and induction station, Baltimore, Md. He is a native of Brevard and attended the high school here. He entered the army in 1916, and after the first World H. A. McCall of Easley and Miss Marriah Stewart. Mr. and Mrs. Cole Pangle had as their week-end guests, Mr. and Mrs. Burgle Queen and Miss Ru by Galloway, of Brevard. Mr. and Mrs. Doyle Manley spent the week-end in Asheville. Mr. and Mrs. Blake McCall and son, of Brevard, visited the form er’s brother, Leon McCall, who is recuperating from a heart at tack at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. Frank McCall. Mrs. Frank Galloway and chil dren left recently to join Mr. Gal loway and to make their home near Limestone, N. Y. War he re-enlisted in 1023 at Har risburg, Pa., and has served con tinuously since that time. He was commissioned a first lieutenant last September. Captain Conley lives with his family in Balti more. Lt. Charles E. Shytle is on a 10-day leave and expects to leave Saturday after visiting his moth er, Mrs. C. T. Shytle, here. He is in the armored engineers corps at Camp Beale, Calif. He has been in military service about two and a half years, and was here on furlough last November. Edward Clarence Mitchem, Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Clar ence Mitchem, of Brevard, has en listed under the navy’s new pro gram for procurement of 17-year old high school seniors and grad uates to train for naval aviation. Mitchem is now attending Brevard College, and upon reaching the age of 18 he will be ready for ac tive duty, following completion of the prescribed courses of training which will qualify him for later ‘commission as a flying officer with the fleet. Ralph Weldon Misenheimer, son of Mr. and Mrs. C. F. Misenheim er, of Brevard, has successfully completed the aerial gunnery course at the army air base gun nery school, Laredo army air field, Laredo, Texas. He has been promoted to the rank of sergeant and received his aerial gunnery wings, and is now eligible for a position with the air forces com bat crew. William McKinnon Fetzer, has enlisted under the Navy’s new procurement program of 17-year old, and after reaching the age of 18 he will be called into active duty and training and upon com pleting the prescribed courses he will qualify for a commissioned flying officer. Pfc. Allen Smith, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jesse A. Smith, of Brevard, is on a 10-day furlough here with his parents from Camp Wheeler, Macon, Ga., where he is with the quartermaster detachment. He has been in service two years. Two other sons of Mr. and Mrs. Smith are also in the service. Ernest Smith volunteered in the navy two months ago and is now at Bainbridge, Md.Frank Smith, of the field artillery of the U. S. army, has been in service three months and is now stationed at Camp White, Orgeon. Richard Franklin, son of Mr. and Mrs. B. D. Franklin, of Bre vard, has written a letter to this paper from the U. S. Naval train ing station, Bainbridge, Md., where he is stationed. He writes that he likes the navy fine but is having a little difficulty in getting ad justed to the ways of “this bunch of Yankees from the north,” and learning the new fangled ideas and things they teach in military jTtomlty, *?
