I guess this is a good bye for this year—so hitch your chairs closer and don’t miss a single item of this senseless col umn. Things are going to be mighty lonesome this summer without someone to keep tab on the R. H. S. students. With final exams rushing up, Carlos and Betty It. find it neces sary to do a lot of sudying (?) to-gether. Although the subject they seem the most interested in, is ? ? ? ? Wouldn't it seem queer if— Madrie G. got to school on time— Brandon and Betty B. weren’t to gether. G. R. C. was seen combing his hair. Miss Gore didn’t send anyone to detention hall. With the disappearance (????) of the cold weather and the com ing spring, we find Dan Cupid at work. Of course he is kept busy shooting arrows at such couples as Herbert II. and Doro NOTICE STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA, COUNTY OF TRANSYLVANIA. Adar Oliver, Plaintiff, vs. William Oliver, Defendant. THE UNITED STATES (By Ruth Chambers Griffin) The United States is fighting Against several countries, Especially the Germans and the Japs. If the yellow dogs don’t know what they are doing, They are sure to find Themselves in some traps. The United States is not afraid, Because Victory is already won. If I could get a good shot at Hitler I’d kill him dead, the son of a gun. I’ll not worry about this war at all, Because the American flag will be waving high, And the enemy flag is sure to fall. United States, you can’t lose, You can’t lose for the ammunition you use. Hitler, Hitler, you can’t win, You can’t win for the fix you are in, When this war has come to an end, I’ll shout for joy and say, I knew the United States had to win Because it had to be that way. I’d never honor him enough to say, Heil Hitler, now, this is no lie, I’d say, march on, American sol diers, Then, I’d be ready to die. Come on, everybody, lend a hand; Keep old Hitler under USA com mand. thy R., Guy B. and Margaret R. Everyone will miss the seniors next year especially Bonnie B. It’s a shame R. M. isn’t a junior too, isn’t it. Does anyone know how “Romeo and Juliet” (Albert and Roma) are progressing? Still struggling along, I guess, say, did he take her to the junior-senior reception? The twins are in a pickle, Mar tha can’t decide between Junior T. and Ray I. and Margaret’s nav -ing thouble about deciding be tween Curt R. and Fred A. You’d never guess who Madrie G. has hooked now! None other than Leon L. Wonder if the “navy” will approve of this? Stop the presses!! The latest romance is Festus W. and June L. and what a beginning. Festus got so excited when he saw June coming, he fell down the steps. What a way to preserve shoe leather! Question of the week, what does Lee B. think of the beautiful friendship between Mildred B. and Harold O? Could this be the beginning of a romance? Charles Lee says his romance with Lila G. may have been “Gone With The Wind” at one time, but it sure came back with the breeze. P. S. (From the looks he isn’t joshing either). Well, everyone will soon be I free to plant (?) their Victory Garden or start enjoying *heir va cation. Anyway the halls are go ing to look mighty lonesome with out all the couples strolling about. Here’s wishing good luck to the seniors and a happy summer to all. Boys and) girls of Transylvania County, your graduation marks for you the dawn of a new day.
