MR. MAYOR
Mayor Clement this week issues his first proclama
tion and in it he summons the people of Brevard to
join in an effort to clean up the town so that visitors
this summer will be duly impressed. The Women’s
Civic club is to be commended for sponsoring this
activity and we hope all our citizens will participate
freely.

Next week has been designated Clean-up Week by
proclamation of the mayor and the Women’s Civic
Club is sponsoring this annual event to make our
town more sightly.
We urge our citizens to participate by beautifying
their homes and cleaning up all vacant lots. Many
of these lots contain in addition to much rubbish
and a growth of weeds, scrap metal that is urgently
needed in our war plants. Collect this metal and
turn it in to be used in democracy’s effort to over
come its enemies.
