Brevard College’s Summer Session Started Tues. With Good Enrollment < Around 65 Students, Includ ing 15 High School Stu dents, Registered Around sixty-five students have registered for the annual summer session at Brevard College and classes started Tuesday morning, Dr. Burt Loomis, acting dean of the college states. Registration of pre-college and college students will be continued throughout the rest of this week and indications are that enroll ment for the summer session will be larger than it was last year, Dr. Loomis said. To meet wartime emergency ed ucation needs, the college is of fering this summer, for the first time in its history, an accelerated, streamlined course for high school students who can meet certain re quirements and who have at least eight credits. Approximately 15 high school students registered and others are expected to arrive the rest of the week, the dean announced. “A high school student enter ing Brevard college this week with eight units of credit and remaining her through the sum mer and fall sessions will be ready for admission in the freshman college class next February 1,” Dr Loomis said. He also announced that there has been no change in the faculty for this session. Full college freshmen and sopo more courses are offered this sum mer and a number of freshmen students are remaining in school in order to graduate early. Caldwell street. 6-10-ltp Eagle’s Nest Girls Camp Will Not Open Eagle’s Nest Camp for girls will not operate again this season af ter being in operation here for the past 20 years, with the excep tion of last year, it was announced yesterday by Mrs. Thomas P. Bail ey, owner and operator. The acute labor situation was given by Mrs. Bailey as the mahi reason for discontinuing the camp again this summer. Dr. and Mrs. Bailey, who spend the winters at Rollins College, Winter Park, Fla., have arrived in Brevard for ,the summer, and are now at the home of Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Wike. Mrs. A. W. Norman, who was head counselor at Eagle’s Nest, will be associated with Camp Illa hee this season. Eagle’s Nest camp, which was built in 1927, was one of the most popular of the smaller camps which operated in this vicinity.
