one of them have contributed 100
per cent.
“Of the ones whom we have con
tacted so far, there are only five
firms in which the employees and
managers have not given 100 per
cent,” the co-chairmen said.
Block leaders in Brevard are
expected to continue their canvass
until every home in the town has
been contacted.
In the county, members of home
demonstration clubs are said to
be working hard and initial reports
from them are anticipated before
the end of the week.
Solicitation in the industrial
plants is well underway and should
be finished within the next few
days, a check-up yesterday reveal
ed.
Mail in Contributions
All persons in the county who
have not been contacted are urged
to send or mail their contributions
to the co-chairmen or to The
Transylvania Times.
“Don’t wait for someone to see
you; we need a lot more money
and the co-operation from every
person in the county is needed to
put this important campaign over
the top,” Messrs. Jerome and
Douglas declared.
All out-of-county readers of The
Times are also invited to make
contributions by mail.

Girl Scout program,” she explain
ed. “While this program remains
basically the same as always, since
Pearl Harbor its application has
been tremendously broadened to
meet war conditions.”
Mrs. Pooser pointed out that
during the past year membership
in Girl Scouts in the nation has
reached a new high record of 807,
704, including both girls and
adults.
There are three troops in Bre
vard, two Scout and one Brownie
troop, with a total membership of
around 80.
Mrs. Ashe Macfie and Mrs. John
Pickelsimer are leaders of troop 1.
Mrs. Lehman Kapp and Mrs. Earl
Bryant are leaders of troop 2, and
Mrs. John Reese Sledge and Miss
Elizabeth Allison are leaders of
the Brownies.
All three troops meet weekly
and starting next week they will
meet in their new hall over the
city market here. “We are proud
of our new meeting place, but we
need some more furniture, espec
ially chairs and tables,” Mrs.
Macfie pointed out.
ENJOYABLE PARTY
- FROM PAGE ONE -_
Credit for the impressive light
ing arrangement and the sound
effects which added so much to
the enjoyment of the program is
due to Wayne Conn, who in this
way has contributed materially to
previous parties.
Square dancing was enjoyed both
before and after the singing. The
Ecusta string band furnished the
music. Quite a few of the guests
came dressed in costume and sev
eral of those present elected to
■play bridge instead of dancing.
